Is Hillbilly viable?

I've been playing billy recently and I got nice results!, Sure he has flaws and sometimes he feels a bit clunky to play but the results were mostly 4ks, I was playing in red rank IV so maybe people weren't that good but since I heard billy isn't what he used to is he really that bad?

First thing, your red rank doesn't really mean anything. Secondly if you're just starting to play Billy then chances are your mmr is just really low for him.

To actually answer the question, yes and no. Hillbilly is a viable killer provided you put time in to learn his techs, add-ons and how to best utilize his map mobility. Sounds good but the issue is two things. Hillbilly's add-ons are generally garbage all around and his overheat mechanic is just downright pointless, something even the devs have recently acknowledged. The second issue is that several killers can do what Hillbilly can do but several times better at a lower skill ceiling.

Before this overheat rework, Billy was considered one of the best killers in the game because of his insta-chainsaw add-ons that decreased the time it took to rev. While not as busted as Nurse, Hillbilly was a genuine threat but because his entire kit is centered around his overheat mechanic he can no longer properly keep up with good survivors the way he use too.

Thanks for answering the questions really appreciate it, I did notice that his addons are below average but now that you told me how they gutted him I can completely understand my friends and the people in general who really despise playing Billy.

Regardless I'll continue playing with him because (at least for me) he's a ton of fun, once again thanks
