The pace of Gens & Killer pressure

Dead by Daylight games are going faster than ever before.

The Pace of the match is Dictated by two things. Gens and Pressure.

  • Survivors are in control of the pace of Gens through...
  1. Split gen pressure 3 survivors split up each on separate gens at the start of the trail
  2. one survivor is on gens at all times
  • Killer has to use pressure in order to slow the pace of gens, forms of pressure are...
  1. Getting into chase
  2. Getting a down / hooking a survivor
  3. Using regression and slow down to stop gens from being too quick
  4. end game pressure to make survivors stay in longer
  • Start of trail pressure & its issues

Survivors often start the trial split up with plenty of info to know what the next step is for the match. The new hud has made it easier to organize the survivor's gen pressure and relieve extreme killer pressure. Overall I think the hud was a good thing for survivors. The issue is the start of the trial and early killer pressure. At the start of the trial, the base kit killers start with no slowdown for survivors. While survivors start with amazing gen pressure and info pressure. This means that survivors can split up look around and look at the hud to know what is happening. For example, you can see your teammate who takes the first chase. This gives 3 survivors the info that they can just stick to gens. This means by the time you get your first down at least 1 up to 3 gens will be finished. Hence why some killers will state that the game doesn't fully start till 3 gens.

You can see the early game pressure is gifted to survivors. Here's the thing though, Killers can run top-tier killers like Nurse, and Blight and use their really strong powers to get pressure at the very start of the match which in return makes them have a well-over fighting chance. But this leave killer like Pig, Trapper, and Clown to have 2 gens finished by the time they get the first down. Yes, killers can use perks like corrupt and lethal to hopefully get their early pressure as soon as possible. But killers shouldn't be forced to run certain perks to have the same early pressure as top-tier killers like Nurse and Blight. This also leaves killers with using regression slowdown machines like skull merchant, or perks like pop and pain res to slow down the game. But we all know that survivors don't like gen regression and nor do killers like having to spend more than 5 minutes of the trial kicking gens.

So, how do we make it so that killers like Pig, Trapper, and Clown have the same early pressure as Blight and Nurse? Well I think there are a few things that contribute to these issues

  1. Size of maps and structures - Maps like Borgo are overly huge making killers who have no mobility suffer from having to walk from point A to point b and then back to point a
  2. No alternate objectives other than gens for survivors

If making maps smaller will fix this issue then you may ask wouldn't Nurse and Blight be even more powerful? The answer is yes, but that's where Blight, and Nurse should receive Nerfs.

Who knows maybe I'm all wrong maybe MMR is the issue. I don't know you tell me what you think we should do to change the pace of matches?
