Can the MASSIVE Regional Flexibility for Lobbies be Reined in, JUST A BIT?
I live on the East Coast of the US. Besides helping to avoid DDoS attacks, I've been using a VPN so the game thinks I'm closer to the middle of the US so it would stop sending me to lobbies in Western Europe. This was something it did all the time starting not long after BHVR removed the more accurate and highly-preferred original ping meter from lobbies (I wonder why).
I just got out of a trial that I accepted, where in the lobby before the trial started there were no icons showing lag or connection issues. As soon as the trial starts, however, lllaaaaaaaagggggggggggggg. At times several seconds of it.
I pop out and check DBD's connection info in Resource Monitor, and lo and behold I see this:
Really? To the game it looks like I'm coming out of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, or Colorado (I usually pick one of these to keep the connection around the geographic middle of the country in hopes it'll give me a lobby somewhere between the coasts), and it STILL throws me to Western Europe? Is the population THAT low?
This is getting ridiculous. Am I going to have to spoof my IP to show I'm in Europe so I can get a US lobby?
Add option selectors to the game so players can opt to wait to connect to country-local lobbies only, regardless of the wait time. While you're at it, do the same for players wanting to wait for teammates/opponents that are actually close to their own MMR.
Having fast access to a lobby is garbage if the trial itself is lag hell or entirely one-sided. I really don't think this is an unreasonable ask.

I wish there was an option to choose to not be in lobbies where myself or others have a ridiculous ping. This way someone from somewhere around the world isn't using VPN to get into my region for laggy advantage and I'm not randomly being sent to a region where I'm lagging. I'd rather have a longer wait for a match than one where myself or others have high ping.
