Do anyone miss old map visuals?
What the topic says. Now, bear with me. I wasn't around when the game was released. When I started playing (May 2022 I think) it already looked kind of like it does now. But I've been watching videos from when the game came out and I kind of liked how the maps looked. I'm guessing it was changed because the killers had difficulties finding survivors? Still, I feel like the 'terror' setting and ambience were spot on. I wish I would have played it back then, even though from the looks of it, gameplay wise it wasn't what it is now.
So, then again, do any of you veterans who played the game back then miss the old maps looks?

I think I speak for the majority we really really really miss Macmillan, Azarovs and coldwind realms the way they used to look. Springwood actually looks better, Red forest is worse now and the other realms are whatever..

I only miss how blue Macmillan used to look

I miss the old Coldwinds so much. I wish there was a way to play on them again. I remember my first ever DBD match was on one of them (I think Thompson House). The textures were an awful blurry mess but if they had just updated these (like they did with old Haddonfield years ago) and left the overall atmosphere and color pallete intact it would be so much better.
It was unsettling and playing survivor on Rancid Abattoir felt so uncomfortable (in the best way possible). Now I feel out of place playing Billy and running through the corn fields at noon, always wondering why the survivors are invading my home.
I also wish they'd bring back blue haddonfield again. Haddonfield today looks good but I liked the old version more from a visual perspective. I don't know why but everything looks so grey and green-ish nowadays. It's more realistic but it also makes maps feel less special. Besides, some just don't have an atmosphere that is even remotely fitting for a "horror" game.

The new Plague maps reworked lost some of it's charm and lost some items that were awesome like the little crypts in a few spots on the map

I never played the old looks of the maps but I think Ormond should be dark again.

Hell, I miss what some of the new ones were supposed to look like.. In some of the 'Realm Beyond' map update videos, some visuals that were shown didn't even make it into the game like the one below... The Gideon Meat Plant bathroom looks nowhere near as good as they 'claimed' it would... False advertising..
Nope. Never getting over it..

No.
I started playing in 2017, and back then the only difference between Macmillan, Coldwind, and Azarovs was that the different realms had a different colored tint (and also that Coldwind had corn).
The newer maps each feel visually distinct, and although the DBD devs have something of a checkered history the art team have been killing it and have been consistently upping their game (with the notable exception of Borgo. That map is ick).
I've never understood the goobers who were upset that the updated maps no longer have a colored tint. Tint or not they look a lot better. Period.

Well, as I said, I wasn't there to play it so I don't think my opinion has the same value as those of you who played them. I'm not saying the maps look bad now or that the design team did bad. I just have this feeling that while now each map is pretty unique, they seem to feel smaller, way too bright and colourful. Watching the videos from the game back when it was released I feel that it felt as if characters were actually lost in a place where they felt small, they had this eerie atmosphere where it feels more scary to be playing. I really love how watching through the night in McMillan Estate would make the far-off parts of the map blurry, how lights were actually impactful and the moonlight was so beautiful. Haddonfield was completely different from what it is now but I've heard it was massive and unbalanced, so I get why it was redone.
Edited: I do realize old visuals had less clutter and were more empty, but I do feel as if they were more detailed somehow.

No, i played back since 2016 and I hated all the old realm visuals, i don't miss any of them one bit and never do i want to see any of them return, especially not MacMillan, Coldwind, Autohaven, Crotus, Springwood, Haddonfield (because genuinely ######### that map) and Hawkins.
The sooner we get rid of Swamp, the better.
