Just make it 3v1 at this point...

...because if Killers can just easily remove one player at the start of the game by hard tunneling then what's the point of this format anyway?

I haven't seen this much tunneling at 5gens in a long while...it's actually crazy. In soloQ this is pretty much game over. Not to mention often the moment someone gets tunneled they DC or just give up making it even easier for the killer.

Like, I don't care if some players like low effort easy quick games...play how you want...but this is essentially a complete waste of time for 3 other people. This is not about fun, this is about basic core design of the game. It's not up to the killer OR survivor how fun the game should be, it's up to the DEVS...step up your game.

Or maybe introduce some "easy difficulty" queue with only 3 survivors...IDK...

And no, before anyone says "just use OTR" - that is not a solution. Perks should not be a solution to poor game design.

    Tunneling isn't unstoppable and the other 3 survivors can attempt to protect the person being tunneled.

    Clearly your upset about tunneling, but what aspect are you trying to solve? Please don't just say "Game Design".

    A. Time spent in a 3v1 match: As 3v1 is easier for killer so the match ends quicker than a 4v1 in which someone is tunneled out?

    B. 4th player (tunneled player): Since player tunneled out doesn't get to play, don't involve them in the game in the first place?

    Your post is not very specific with what your issue with tunneling is or how you feel making the game a 3v1 addresses it.

    Personally, I have very little tunneling in all my soloq matches. And when someone does get tunneled, it typically guarantees we can get at least a 3 out (killer's loss). Additionally, if you don't care about losing, sometimes you can get some awesome coop moments with randoms to save the one being tunneled and get the 4 out!

    "This isn't about fun" but "it's up to the devs" when discussing who it's up to regarding "how fun the game should be". The immediate contradiction is perplexing.

    Is this post just satire, and I am completely lost in my believing it to be genuine?

    I am very interested in the aspects of tunneling you find most frustrating and the solutions (multiple if you have them) you think should be implemented to mitigate the issues you feel are prevalent with tunneling.

    Yeah tunneling has never been stronger, OTR is useless against actual hard tunneling because it's disabled with same hit than basekit BT, then you got DS but it's just very sad, I've never seen someone use it and live more than 5 seconds

    The game needs systems to stop tunneling. That's the only way it will stop. Something like making it so killers can't rehook a survivor back to back until they have hooked everyone else once, or whatever system would be needed. But that would require a complete rework so it couldn't be exploited by survivors, so it won't happen anytime soon.

    The game should have been built in such a way that targetting one player and eliminating them from the game early on wasn't an option. DBD is a party game, it's not meant to be sweaty. There should be things in place to ensure that everyone gets a decent opportunity to play the game. That obviously didn't occur due to how the game came into existence.

    If I were going to put a band aid fix on tunneling, I'd give all survivors DS as basekit. Make it deactivate after everyone has been hooked once or make it deactivate for individual survivors once it had been used once, it would also deactivate after 2 or 3 gens have been completed. I'd remove collision on survivors who use DS so they couldn't body block, whilst also making the auras of unhooked survivors intermittently visible to the killer so the survivors can't hide and stall out the game.

    If a killer wants you out of the game they will get you out of the game unless they suck big time.

    The game is designed for the killer to catch up to you at some point and if they want to tunnel you out you're out.

    Currently, tunneling is unstoppable. Running OTR, BT, DS, etc., or having the teammates trying to protect you only delays the inevitable.

    If the devs can come up with a system to nullify it like the upcoming anti-camping mechanic, I would be impressed. But at the moment, I can't imagine how'd they do it.

    A few weeks ago I made a similar thread. My solution was - if 1 person is on death hook, and no-one else has been hooked, then make the death hook person invulnerable until another person gets hooked. This would work only once in the match, and only if this happens. It would be a mechanism that speficially protects the team from losing 1 person in scenarios when the person is getting hardcore tunneled, and no-one else has got hooked.

    It is very easy to just go after the unhooked person, because you only have to take away 1 health state (instead of 2). I can only hope the devs will do something about it.
