Why are they saying "Blindness is a bad status effect"?

Any reasons why they say that?

bad as in weak or bad as in bad for gameplay? Because blindness should 100% not block hook auras, but it's overall a fairly weak effect

It may or not be usefull.

If survivors bring aura perks it can help.

If they dont they are only affected to see people hooked or downed but by the time you hook someone blindness effect is more than finished.

And you dont know when its helping or not and hard to value. Thats why usually blind effects usually last for long time and easy to apply.

It's quite a weak status effect if the survivor or killer is good. There are much better add ons/perks to run than ones that apply the blindness status effect.

It's the weakest status effect. It does only work againts soloQ teams. It only really hurts them if they don't pay attention to where hooked Survivor is or they have some aura reading perks.

I quess the best thing it does is to shut down WoO perk which is like number 1 most used perk.

Blocking aura really isn't that impactful to put it short. The main reason why people say it bad? They can't see when they getting vaule from it. If a survivor is hinder you can see the speed decrease or if a survivor is oblivious u can sneak up. These status effects the killer can see are working. For blindness you just hope for the best and even if the survivor was running aura reading you wouldn't know into the end game. People tend to downplay perks they can't physically see working. That why perks like leverage and overwhelming presence never get use. Yeah they got bad effects but u also don't see when they are helping. That also why it took killers years to start even noticing windows of opportunity despite it pick rate being pretty high since patch 5.3.0.

On one hand it can be a lot less effective vs swf, on the other it can be seen used for stuff like slug bleedout builds that can decimate solos. It manages to suit two different definitions of "bad" at the same time.

I'd actually say it's at perhaps its strongest ever as an effect due to the popularity of Windows of Opportunity. That's information so specific and precise that only a truly microscopic fraction of teams will even attempt to emulate it with comms. Still eh but it has some real use besides bleeding people out added to the already existing synergy it has with making it harder to dodge Pain Res while blind.

Blindness can be useful mainly with SoloQ. Survivors on comms can negate the effect to a degree; especially the crack teams who break maps down into sections.

There are moments where it could cause problems, regardless of the survivors being swf or not (like trying to find the NOED totem without aura assistance).

Overall, it's okay. However, compared to other status effects such as "exposed", "mangled" or "oblivious", it's one of the weaker status effects. However, just like Trapper, "weaker" does not necessarily mean weak to face. Just not as desirable.
