Do bloodpoints earned advance XP and the Rift?

I am having a miserable time trying to get the rift done.

My understanding is that XP = Rift Fragments, but does your total amount of BP earned per match, including offerings such as Escape Cakes, count towards XP?

I guess the short version of my question is will bringing Escape Cakes every match make The Rift get done faster?
