Sadako needs some updating - from a Sadako main

not much, but she definitely needs some tuning to feel better to go against and to play as. lets be real, her chase potential sucks really bad and her iri tape addon makes her unbearable to play against. both need changing, and some quality of life changes need to happen aswell to the overall character to improve her fluidity and general gameplay. i recommend the changes down below, with reasonings why i think it would be healthy for the character.
UI Changes
- The black outline indicating the survivor is going against the Onyro is no longer visible until 30 seconds has passed (the duration of the inital TV cooldown for Onyro at the start of a trial)
Basekit Changes
- If you hook a survivor that is holding a tape, all survivors without a tape globally gain 0.75 stacks of Condemn (doesn't apply to a downed survivor)
- Invisibility duration while Demanifesting is increased by 33%
- Invisibility duration after Manifesting is increased by 33%
- No longer has a 24m lullaby. Instead, when a survivor has 7 stacks of condemn, the lullaby audio plays consistently
these basekit changes helps improve her overall quality of a stealth killer and also gives her a better chase potential, the hook condemn change is to promote the idea of hooking players instead of slugging them, as if you want more condemns then hook survivors as many use Sadako to slug as shes VERY effective at doing it. the lullaby removal is to make her a better stealth killer, but i still chose to keep the static audio SFX for when a survivor has 7 stacks of condemn, kind of like when a survivor hears that constant melody when their holding the Lament Configuration.
Addon Changes
- Reiko's Watch & Old Newspaper's effects are reduced from 33% to 20%
- Telephone: Hindered effect is now 7% up from 3%.
- Iridescent Videotape: Effects are removed. New effects: Survivor's holding a video tape build Condemn passively (25 seconds per stack). Every stack of condemn received, the cursed survivor screams revealing their location for 3 seconds
the addon nerfs for reiko's watch and old newspaper are to retune them as i made them basekit to further improve her chase potential, 20% should be fine. the telephone often feels like its not really that good, and the percentage being 7% matches more to the "seven days" aspect of her character as 3% feels lackluster for a measly 7 meters. iridescent videotape however makes her absolutely miserable to go against, and the changes i implemented for it is to remove the TV restriction and to instead make it more like how it is in the movie, whereas holding the cursed tape quite literally curses you and time is ticking before your 7 days are up, and it punishes survivors who hold tapes for the entire match. Iridescents should still be strong, and thats why i chose to make it more lore accurate to her character while keeping the scary aspect still apart of her gameplay.
the whole idea of these changes are to promote a less slugging and more chase oriented sadako, while increasing her overall effectiveness and reworking the thing that makes her so hated to go against.

I agree she needs changes but disagree with you on what they should do.
I firmly believe the addition of mapwide condemn upon Projection was the worst thing they did to her. It is difficult to balance and punishes soloq more than anything. Whats worse is that they reduced her mobility to try and balance it which makes her less fun to play. The reduced mobility along with the changes to demanifestation and chase interactions really force her to play all in on the condemn playstyle instead of allowing players to play her with a mobility focus.
Survivors didn't like being focused down and getting condemned pre-rework. Now that Onryo is forced to play such a playstyle even more because of the nerfs to the other aspects of her kit, this is happening even more. Not only that, building condemn takes much less skill than before. Pre-rework you had to use strategy and game sense to teleport within a specific distance of a survivor to build condemn up. You could also notice survivors with tapes and try to interdict them before they can could drop them off. Both of these options had counterplay and were engaging.
The current way to build condemn is to just tunnel people with tapes, hit them and then teleport every 10 seconds. If they pick up a tape you hit them again until they are dead. It is much less interesting and much less healthy for the game.
In my opinion the rework should just be scraped and they can either make smart changes to the pre-rework Onryo like keeping the changes to Ring Drawing, or start over with a new rework idea that isn't such a nightmare to balance.

i 100% agree, but we know that their not gonna revert the rework. all she became now is a noob stomper and she still struggles against good survivors. she needed basekit buffs instead of a rework before she got the rework, that i agree on, but if their keeping the rework then they should be doing the changes i suggested.
