Ask me anything and answer basically nothing

OK, i know and i appreciate AMA again, but, honestly, so many good questions about future, tools, killers, perks, survivors, doubt about stats, 2k,3k questions, obviously BHVR cant answer all question, and here is the terrible thing about today. Were around 30 questions answered (just) and, im so sorry about people who ask about 'shirtless Gabriel" 'the other animals in game with names from BHVR staff" and etc. Come on BHVR u just answered a few question and u select joke questions instead a lot of other interesting stuff. People dispend time making questions and waiting for a serioulsy answear and u make this. Honestly, in the next time, please select more questions and serious topics.

I wouldn't say it's nothing, there was some good questions about the game future, the answers are a bit tricky, but as experienced dbd player I can decipher them for you:

No design yet, nothing planned in near future, monitored but currently nothing, neven say never - generally everything that sound like this means that this thing never be in game and never will be discussed anywhere except in AMA, with some RARE, like really RARE exceptions, and I can't really remember any of them (just a copium for Myers update), do not underestimate this answer, because that's the most accurate info devs are giving to us, we know what exactly is NOT gonna happen in at least year, and like I said before, most of the time never gonna happen

Some shady answer that doesn't actually answers the question - internal thing and they can't talk about it, trying to excuse about something, but overall, sometimes YES but we don't really care, sometimes NO, hard to understand, but best example will be question about map balance "Blah blah we aware blah blah we can't be sure the map is balanced"

Yes (and then there will be actuall answer) - worthless, absolutley 90% of the time, because the question will be about something that is already confirmed by devs on anniversary stream or somewhere else (like in devblog), best example is question about skull merchant, most likely guy that asked the question missed info that devs said about reworking her, and also 3 gen thing, and he got the answer that well, at least I did know already. 10% is somewhat useful, now we know that they are not reworking twins like freddy, or at least like doctor, and they most likely just tweak some numbers and addons, worth of how many years of waiting?

Other type of questions about developing, designing killer/perks/map, cosmetics and just jokes, I don't really find them interesting and I suspect most of the community too

Yeah, i asked about Trcikster's Pick and kill rate, because he is one the lowest in this game, and i think he maybe should has a rework or something, but, nothing for me.

They don't want to answer directly because if they start making "promises" (even if they put it is subject to change) and answer all these questions about things that might come in few months or year(s) and don't deliver on them, people will ######### on them for fake promising as in the past.

But at the same time, What is the point of AMA if you will answer 0.05% of all questions and like 1/3 of them are worthless questions like "when new hot skin for my favorite Survivor".

The only questions that got concrete, real answers that were actual new information were "no charm store ever" and "Iron Maiden collab 2024". Everything else is vague weasel words or old/gameplay irrelevant info.

They directly confirmed Twins will not get a major rework but adjustments to their existing kit and what happened to cosmetic descriptions (though that one is pretty vague it was very nice to get it acknowledged).

also MfT will get some changes, which is a hot topic since it’s announcement.

don’t get me wrong, it would have been nice to get more and clearer answers. But there have been relevant and needed info given which should not be ignored when criticizing them

They knew exactly what they brought out with MfT and they knew at this moment, that they will nerf it 6 months later.

    Its called marketing.

Oh btw. - the same goes to Ultimate Weapon. Wait a few weeks and this forum will see Ultimate Weapon Discussions everywhere.

The AMA exists solely to cover the 'lack of transparency and communication' criticism they could no longer ignore. Now that they've done it, they can say they've worked to improve that, even if it was overall a waste of time with minimal concrete information.

If they don't want to make promises they can't keep, then they could at least give schedules they would like to keep or add details as to why things are on the backburner. Instead it's all vague and unsatisfying. A complete waste of energy.

    Generically corporate as always.

These AMA been completely useless lately. Most questions that are answered aren't even serious questions that doesn't really have anything to do with the games direction or balancing. When there is a question that's answered about reworks, updates, balancing or characters. It's all too vague, we'll get to it, it's low priority, etc. Thanks for nothing we already know there's a planned update for twins, blight add-ons, Freddy, etc for the last 5yrs or w/e with no work or direction shown that anything is being done other than just taking their word for it.

Feels almost like a lose/lose situation with these AMA they don't do them community calls out zero communication when they do an AMA it's all too vague and nothing is properly answered.

I feel the AMA sessions are kinda useless in general, yet it's not really anyone's fault.

In AMAs, pretty much most questions will be concerning the future and - possibly due to a multitude of policies, legalities and such - BHVR cannot divulge information on this. They can only give a rough timescale at least.

It's understandable why they answer how they are. The issue is they probably know these are the questions they'll get, so if they know it's hardly likely to be answered then why do an AMA in the first place?

The best thing they can do is either a) just stick to answering the odd thread in the forums or b) make it clear in am AMA this is for questions regarding past things, such as asking for lore on existing characters.

Personally, I'm not even upset with the AMA since I got what I was expecting.. a lot of "maybe"s, "we hear you"s, and "we see"s. I feel this isn't new in gaming in general. I can't think of any big dev team or company that is fully open with their future plans or gives concrete answers to questions when it comes to gameplay-related and balance-related stuff. I think I have only seen small game studios and indie game devs be open to tell ppl that stuff.

One of the major reasons why it's like this is the fear of promising something and not delivering on it because something happens down the line. Just recently gaming saw one of the biggest broken promises happen. Look at what happened to Overwatch and its dev team. OW2 was promised to have this huge PVE mode with skill trees and a bunch of replayable but what we got instead was a mission basic campaign mode with three difficulties that going to be released in pieces over the course of seasons. That is just a recent example of a game dev failing to deliver on promises that were made. Their plenty of other examples of this happening throughout gaming. At the end of the day, I feel devs just want to play it safe and not commit to yes or no answers on things about the game bc if they do commit to it and fail to deliver they only get hate from ppl.

With all that said I do think it is really dumb to have an AMA and not answer any of the real questions ppl have. If you can't or don't want to give concrete answers about future plans for the game then just don't do an AMA and waste yours and our time. I imagine the time that was spent by Mandy and other members of dbd dev team to give the same answer to people's questions could have been spent better elsewhere. It is okay to not do an AMA if you know you can't give ppl the info they really want. Personally, I hope we don't have another AMA if its going to be the same as yesterday's one. That's just me tho.
