Is there really a better way to play killer?
So, after nearly 1,100 hours of playtime (Either half or most of which I've spent playing killer) I've always found myself in a decent position to be able to kill other players but occasionally even with every bit of effort I put into each game I end up with a squad of players that end up turning my game into a complete humiliation even if I end up with a kill or two with everyone last second switching, running all the meta perks and flashlights, they abuse near-infinite's that would take the duration of the entire game to reach them, totems gone instantly and then trashtalk in the end-game chat but yet never any advice offered at all and as part of the usual routine every 10 games I additionally have to prove to these toxic individuals that they have no clue what they're talking about at all.
But let's assume that somehow against any possible logic that these survivors are right and I'm simply trash at the game no matter what I do, what advice can be given so I do not have to deal with near-infinites (such as the disturbed ward building) and be able to apply pressure to the game properly? Or am I simply dealing with the reality of the fact that there is literally nothing I can do against these types of players and that I'm likely doing the best I can as a killer? I ask this as I've always enjoyed this game a fair bit especially when I first started up, but when these types of players come around so often I always feel tempted to just quit playing the game because of being unable to do anything about the way some people play even with mindgames, even going full tryhard at times which is something I try to avoid doing because I do not enjoy it. If anything at all, what can I possibly do to make the game more enjoyable in these circumstances?

What you MAY possibly want my friend, is simply more fun. Dead by Daylight is not what it used to be or was invisioned to be in my opinion- based on dev diaries and their comments. It seemed like they wanted to focus on the ‘fear’ (or even excitement) aspect of the game; With no substitute for ‘real’ people and real human emotion; Mathieu Cote explained his interest in “...seeing people at their best, and seeing people at their worst.”
What happens though, when players become more experienced? And when their best is always an easy decision- whether it be choosing to rescue or selfishly leave their teammates behind (Or even if they’re spotted by the killer); There isn’t much for a player to contemplate on when they have no fear for any adverse consequences.
Don’t misunderstand me though, it’s still a fun game; But what many players find (or forced to accept) “fun” is trying your absolute best to “win” (survive or kill every survivor) every second of each game. Now of course, there’s some players who don’t abide by these standards (such as myself in a way). But as a killer, who controls the flow of each trial (much like a GameMaster in a roleplaying game); Is it still fun to play “your own way” even though your ‘fellow’ players (survivors) “put you out” (as a Killer even)?
The game (as a whole) is in a very competitive state as of right now- it was only a matter of time. And unless the “attitude” or mentality of players change, this fact won’t either.0 -
The game is unbalanced, at one point there is nothing you can do if survivors really want to win, as proved with the Marth88's experiment. Gens being done under 3 minutes is a reality if they are dedicated to that.

You have two solutions :
either fully play for fun, or just find the sweet spot to camp and tryhard like hell. You just gotta find the timing to punish the rescues and actually snowball out of it, as it's the most efficient way to win a round, if you truly want to win. Trying to run away and catch people one by one will never do you any good unless you play against very average players.
Don't "play fair", don't even consider it.2 -
My answer may sound stupid, but stop chasing them. I hate people who abuse infinites and sometimes it is better to have a survivor chase you wanting your attention because all it does is slow the game down because he isn't completing his objectives.
