Matchmaking is bad
Please, fix the matchmaking. I have almost five hundred hours and yet you keep giving me teammates with under twenty. Why? Do you think I can carry a bunch of baby survivors? Your matchmaking is so broken, the only way I can escape the trial is by running a stealth/hatch build.
It's not my MMR. I've had three weeks of escaping most of my matches, scoring between 25 - 40k each match. I am playing well. I looped a killer for 7+ minutes and died because he face camped me and my teammates didn't finish a single gen whilst I was looping him.
Why am I being dumped into these matches constantly? It can't be just backfilling. You can't blame all the matchmaking problems on the players.
The last three weeks have been awful to play. I had one night where I consistently met good players and it was a ton of fun. But every other night it's been complete trash. I get killers who don't even know how to break pallets.
What do I have to do, other than consistently escape, earn a ton of BP, do the gens, rescue and heal teammates and run the killer for long periods of time, to be eligible to play with players of my own skill level?

I face very mixed up situations as well. I would consider myself not that high skilled, maybe average as a killer and slightly worse as surv. But I always do my best. As surv, sometimes I get team mates even worse than me, sometimes I get mates way better than me and feel missplaced somehow. It feels totally mixed up and like a lottery to me.
Same as a Killer. (I always play the role which gives Bonus BP, so I play both roles). There are situation where I could get easy 4k because Survivors just don't do much and run straight shift + w, not even trying to avoid anything. On the other hand I have matches where I feel bullied and just get stomped by survivors in no time lol
But I have to say.. I just came back to DBD few weeks ago. Last time I played was 2021 and I've got the feeling it was even worse by then and got better a little bit.
Still not satysfying tough. The biggest deal regarding this issue for me is the toxicity of people. Nearly half of the matches which are toally "mixed up" skill-wise result in a toxic comment made in the after chat. Especially love it, when squad tells me "boring, l2p!" after game chat. What the hell you think I am doing here? Not my problem if I get rolled in your pro-gamer group game as a mediocre Killer ๐

It's hard to say really, i have similar issues with matchmaking but i don't really think there is a matchmaking thing as when i play survivor i usually get teammates who seem brand new but as killer i get the sweats consistently.

Here's the thing, the MMR tries to put us all against players with similar win-rates or whatever, but it's also very concerned about wait times. Players that are waiting a while start becoming a priority, so matches just get matched regardless of experience.
I get the same thing, I'm getting lots and lots of brand new players mixed in, especially since Xeno. New players pouring in, we vets have to just do our duty.
Used to just be completely random, I don't know what's better.

I feel kind of adressed, when I read this. I am sorry for these guys. I just started playing DBD again when Alien Chapter came out and I often see myself in matches with mates who are far better in chases than me. I am often the Survivor who can't stand 30 seconds of a chase, while there are sometimes mates who are in a chase with the killer for minutes!
So i want to say sorry for that ๐ believe me, if I had to decide, I would prefer not to be my team mates burden. (though not feeling sorry for them if they mock me after game for being "n00b", "baby" or whatsoever).
But as said, still on the other hand even I get matches with surv mates even worse than me. Lottery.

You have to play in a SWF. The devs will never be able to implement an MMR system that works.

None of my friends want to play survivor ๐ญ

You're not meant to be matched only with survivors at your skill level. Matching with a balanced skill level teammate widens the available skill level of killers you can face in a random que. If you're higher skilled than the killer, you can be paired with someone lower skill level than the killer and it becomes a decently fair match.

This week and last weekend has been hell in soloQ. Usually i have decent time since i understand i won't escape every single match but this week...i played 4 hours..i escaped 3 times. Then another 4 hours. I escaped 2 times.
Some is my own fault i make mistakes as well sure, but BUT BUT heres the kicker i have had in every match 1 or 2 teammates that hide.. they don't do gens they have usually 0 hooks in the end and they don't save from hooks.. they are selfish and self care for hours and hide in lockers. Quite often you'll see perks like self care, distortion urban evasion, solo survivor etc on them. I have almost 3500 hours in this game and i would assume people with these kind of hours wouldn't play like this so im guessing i'm getting fresh players or players with less than 1000 hours in the game with me.
Then another thing... my matches ( in eu btw ) wesker blight nurse wesker blight nurse. Random lower tier killer then back to wesker blight nurses and they play like their life depends on it. By this i mean most blights i meet tunnel you off the hook and kill you at 5 gens. I guess this is what happens when people just demand to nerf everything about every killer... Also i don't think i should get 5k+ hour killer with P100 and comp background and then in the same match get these hiding survivors that are afraid of their own shadow.. there's no way that match goes well.

.....that's not how it works. At least not when comes to the "decently fair" bit.

There are not a noticeable number of new players. I feel that the intermediate and advanced player base has been sloughed off, and as a result, I am being matched up with more and more beginners.
We are concerned that beginners regularly come in through streamers, influencers' videos, distribution, and collaboration killers, but the percentage that sticks around and becomes intermediate or above is likely to be small.

And this I suspect is the way devs look at matchmaking and this exactly is the reason why SWF is so strong. You match yourself with 4 friends that know how to play. You won't have 1 player that does not know anything. So he will not get tunneled out at 5 gens. And it means that no matter how good you are, you won't fix 5 generators with just 3 people.
Same-strength survivor in a game where tunneling is so common is a must. SWF is not OP because of comms, but because it circumvent matchmaking

Matchmaking has always been trash in this game and probably always will be. They make the game ridiculously difficult for new players so they don't stick around. They also deliberately try to inflate kill rates so they can be around 60%..
Everyone's obsession with SWF doesn't help either. For every good or even decent SWF group playing together is that many less Survivors for the Solo Queue talent pool as well.

The problem is that survivors need to work as a team or else you just have to let everyone else die and go for hatch, which feels like a rotten way to play. I wouldn't mind some matches where there's baby survivors, but it can be every match I play in a session. Having ten matches in a row where the gates never get powered because you have new players on your team gets very frustrating. I can't even run the killer to help my weak teammates, because I'll run out of resources before they get the gens done. That's if the killer doesn't just leave me and go down one of the babies in about ten seconds flat.
Short version: I don't mind the randomness of matchmaking, but it's given me entire sessions for three weeks straight where I can't win a match without the hatch, which sucks.
I really don't care about being high MMR. Low MMR survivors are one thing, but the worst thing is playing against low MMR killers. I hate it. I have never had a fun match against a new killer player. They are too stressed out to have fun, and if I realise that someone I am playing with is getting angry or upset, it ruins any sense of fun the match has. That's why I get so frustrated when I see my teammates gets hooked at five gens and just gets bullied on the hook. I'm not having fun if I can clearly see someone else is miserable. The only consistent way I have found to avoid these situations is to be paired up against strong killers. They won't get angry if you loop them for over a minute. They don't camp or hard tunnel survivors out of the match at five gens. The matchmaking has denied me all of the best parts of this game for three weeks straight and I am tired of it.
Short version: I want fun games and that's one-hundred percent impossible against low level killers. I am playing well according to the metrics of the game, so stop giving me killers that don't even know how to break a pallet.
Also, cheers for the constructive feedback. Much appreciated.
