Scratch Marks

Greetings, people of the fog. It is no secret that BHVR have adjusted scratch marks quite a few times and there have been a lot of people talking about how these changes made scratch marks pretty hard to see.

For a while now, I've struggled with identifying and following scratch marks. I have even tried different color blind mode settings, something that I've never done in any other game but this messes with me more than it helps. I have no problems at all following pools of blood but scratch marks have become a real issue for me.

I remember scratch marks as pretty vibrant and almost impossible to miss a few years back but now scratch marks lag behind survivors (about a second), skip patches, glitch through the ground (can happen on all maps, I think but mostly on Nostromo and RPD) and blend in with the environment on some maps.

How have your experiences with scratch marks been? Do you have same issue or have you maybe found a solution?

Speaking of scratch marks. These past few days I've often noticed an interruption in the scratch marks made by survivors while in a chase. It makes no sense as they are not walking.

BHVR absolutely makes scratchmark changes, that aren't listed in any patch notes. Some of the scratchmark implementations made it much easier to follow scratchmarks, so BHVR knows how to make reliable scratchmarks.... but instead we purposely get scratchmark implementations (like we do now), where it's sometimes purposely confusing to track scratchmarks.

The scratchmark implementation they secretly tested out on the Alien PTB was absolutely horrible, and I can't imagine how anyone thought those were acceptable scratchmarks.

Aside from Borgo or maps with really tall grass i can see scratch marks fine most of the time. But their placement and spacing has become a bit inconsistent lately. Sometimes the marks make it look like the survivor is going in a different direction than they really are. Its not that common though.

My solution is to try and rely on sound more than visuals when possible. Thankfully Ripley's Light-Footed perk is not common.

I know. But nobody runs Lightweight and it still happens without the perk. That's what's bothering me and others too.

Yeah, for some reason scratch marks started to appear way slower lately.
