If just want to kill them all……why had to hook them?🤔

In lore, The Entity feeds off intense emotion. it has apparently chosen fear and suffering as the most potent and efficient emotions to feed off of. As to why it makes it harder for the killers to do so, fear and suffering are far more intense when hope is crushed before their eyes. It'd be boring if they just got locked in a room and murdered, over too fast, not enough suffering. Prolonging it, providing them a sliver of hope for survival just to crush it, is how the entity has chosen to feed.
