"Russian" server
Those who play Counter-Strike know that Stockholm received the unofficial status of a Russian server. Valve chose a pretty good place to install the server since players from Russia and nearby countries did not have to connect to the center of Europe (I'm not sure, but I think I also read something about connecting Russia and Sweden, due to which the latency is less).
Reading the AWS documentation, I discovered that Amazon has servers in Stockholm and also has GameLift (those dedicated servers that run DBD). Why don’t the developers add DBD servers to Stockholm? I’m sure that this will reduce the ping of players from Russia and reduce the number of anomaly hits. Everyone wins, and besides this, everything remains within the scope of possibilities. Sanctions are not violated and AWS is used (which is used by the developers). In addition, we will have a server for West Europe (London), Central Europe (Frankfurt) and North Europe (Stockholm).

Distance between Frankfurt and Stockholm is not that significant. The problem is that Russia is 9000 km in length. So while from Moscow you will have 30-60 ms to any city in Europe, in Vladivostok its gonna be up to 200+.

But those will connect to the server in Asia if I'm not mistaken.
The real problem is the middle east and central Asia. They don't have a server (anymore) and the connection to either an EU or AS server is bad.

This is true, but it is worth clarifying that we are talking more about players from Siberia than the Far East of Russia. The East of Russia is connected to Korean and Japanese servers.
I think Valve's solution looks pretty good since they actually put servers on both sides of Russia (Stockholm, Japan and Korea).
In DBD, the servers are located in such a way that there are Korea and Japan (Asia region), but the server on the other side is very far from Russia (Frankfurt), which is why players in the middle of Russia are faced with the problem that both servers are far away. I believe that the server from Stockholm will be able to reduce the ping by about 20-30 for this group of players
It's worth adding that I'm from Kazakhstan and my ping to Frankfurt is 120 or something like this. I checked latency on AWS Cloud Ping (didn't find GameLift) and my latency to Stockholm was 90

I will also add that the distance between Stockholm and Frankfurt, although insignificant, is that Sweden is better connected with Russia than with Germany. When I was still living in Russia, my games on Faceit showed much lower latency on servers in Sweden than in Germany and other countries
