Widescreen Monitors Are Handled Very Poorly

I understand the need for limiting aspect ratio to 16:9. What I don't understand is how this has been implemented. Users with any monitor outside of 16:9 are forced into a 16:9 during the match but NOT outside of the match. I am unable to see people's names, perk levels, or even my characters head. Why does the 16:9 option not force this ratio at all times? It's how every other that chooses to force 16:9 handles it, why not this?
How is this acceptable? https://imgur.com/a/GjFmkeQ
