Singularity needs some love! Here are suggestions from a Larry main.
First of all, Singularity is one of the best Killer designs in the game.
Along with Nurse, Wesker, Blight and Doctor, he stands out in his own, very unique way. But alas, that is not the topic for today.
I have been practically worshipping Singularity since PTB, and even at the time where i didnt know you could teleport to infected survivors with your pod gun and just by using cameras, i loved him. The buffs made him just the more and more fun, and seeing how little the hype for him was made me sad. Regardless, he still is not fully polished, and i have some ideas that i have gathered up from experience that would make his gameplay feel much smoother. Lets begin!
- Improved camera detection. Currently, the Singularity is in a weird spot, where sometimes you can tag people that you can barely see, and other times you cant tag someone that you see 75% of. I think the cleanest cut for this should be that as long as the Singularity can see a survivor, he should be able to infect. After all, the infection that is fired from the pod simply has to be attached to the survivor, and that can happen no matter which part comes in contact.
- Incentive to teleport from pods. Right now, there's no difference between teleporting from your pod gun or a placed pod. And some loops are rounded enough for survivors to run you until your Overclock expires, even directly after a teleport. I'd say nothing massive, but it would be nice to be rewarded for a "harder" way to use your power. Perhaps having a shorter emergence/recovery period to help get back to chase faster? Because currently, there is no reason to just spam teleports with your gun.
- Remove the anti-camp measures. Especially with the new anti-facecamp implementation, there's no reason for a Singularity player to give the survivor MORE progress due to being slowed down after exiting a pod. At the very least, the distance should be decreased. At the end of the day, a Singularity that wants to camp can just stay far enough and be on a camera, and the moment someone is running for the rescue, he can come out and swing at them anyway. I also think the "anti-camp" infection/teleport debuff should have a much smaller range. It gets to a point where you cant even infect survivors that are being chased around the hook sometimes.
- Basekit Overclock duration increased by ~10-15%, while the extra duration from each infected survivor is decreased a little. Right now, the Singularity (at least according to my experience) heavily relies on the brown Glove add-on. That 15% comes into play way, way more than it should. It has already been nerfed from 25% to 15%, and the fact that it still is such a popular add-on should probably indicate that it is almost a necessity. This would help Singularity players to explore different add-ons, rather than making sure their power works to begin with.
- Basekit Pod count increase. Same situation, 10 pods are way too little. Heck, even the Slurry add-on cannot keep up sometimes, especially on bigger maps. And again, the Slurry feels way more like a necessity than it should be. I think a healthy approach would be less dramatical, however. Basekit pods would go from 10 -> 11, and the Slurry add-on would stay the same. Giving it more value, but making the basekit reliable enough to select a different add-on.
I believe these summarize my personal list of the changes i would make to Mr. Singu Larry, but i would love to hear an opinion from others, of course. Please by all means, do let me know!
Happy hunting.
