U don't chase as hag. U place traps.
Learn the routing of survivors (observe or play yourself) and u know where to place traps. That's it for the most part.
Also hag is one of the few killers which can use MYC good1 -

MYC is a must for the hag.
I usually place the traps on one side of the pallets, windows, random places and 2 at the shack (if it's within the area i want to trap), 1 at the window (outside) and 1 at the door with the pallet (also outside).
When in a chase, if survivors trigger the traps by the pallets don't instantly teleport, because smart survivors will expect you to teleport and they'll turn back, dropping the pallet behind them and leaving you on the other side.
Since you cant trap the whole area effectively i advise you to trap one side, the one with most generators close to each other
The hag is a really good killer who doesnt really need addons or perks to do well, so the other 3 perks are up to you. I use MYC because it's an antitunneling perk.0 -

I think i know some good places(often used loops, certain pallets) would those be a good place to start?
I am not a great hag so don't take me so seriously but I find the following strategies to be very useful for the hag.
Don't always place traps around the loops and pallets. You can waste the pallet but you might not get a hit, there are common routes that every survivor uses, so try to have 2-3 traps on those routes to get a free hit.
Always be ready to teleport. You should never make them comfortable enough to sprint around the map and destroy your traps.
Use sloppy butcher. Survivors want to heal against a hag because they might get a free hit. It will slow down the game quite a bit.
I love MYC and I think it is a must have.
Some areas are dead areas and there is no reason to place traps. You should choose 5 generators that are closest to each other and play your game around that part of the map.
Never give up. Hag has the potential to snowball and she has her moments where she wins the game. If you lose 2-3 generators before your first hook as a wraith, you will most likely lose but as a hag, there is always a chance.
More experienced hags can give you better advice but these should be enough for a beginner hag.

Play defensive. You can do way more by trapping up a couple generators and the nearby pallets/windows than you could by chasing. She's a 4.4 killer, so you don't want to chase unless you absolutely have to.
Also keep in mind that her traps will grab the survivor's camera. You can use this to your advantage by placing traps a little off to the side of a loop. This will allow you to gain a little bit of distance as they go running off towards it for a second and could make the difference between whether or not you get to the pallet or not.0 -

Also, dont place your traps always at the same spot, vary a bit or survivors will ahve an easy time clearing traps0 -

I also like the idea. Behind MYC, but some do say that promotes a Proximity esque camp.(usually survivors whom I've played against) its a fun perk design.
I will keep the shack bit in mind. And the more Catalysts on the closely knit gens0 -

You want to have a lot of traps down at places where survivors like to run off to as soon as they're caught, and you want to spread out the traps. People usually struggle as Hag because either they have no/few traps placed down and/or they're way too close together. If you have someone on the hook, ONLY PLACE ONE TRAP AT IT IF ANY AT ALL (unless it's the basement, then two traps (one at the bottom of the steps and another on the stairs) is more than enough). This is a common mistake I see Hags I play against do, all this does is limit her possible map pressure (which is amazing once she has the time to set it up).
MYC isn't exactly a must-have, but Hag is by far the best user of said perk. M&A is the more must-have perk compared to any other, and I value Nurse's as well over MYC.
I personally run Nurse's, Ruin, MYC, and M&A on Hag. Ruin gives me time to set up my traps at the beginning of the game, which I value over having 4 consistent perks. Some Hag mains (which I'm not) like using Sloppy Butcher instead of Ruin (or instead of MYC). Replacing either is fine, it's personal preference. Also, for anyone who has any questions on any killer (not just Hag), this discord is a great place to start: https://discord.gg/yUYRj96
It has mains of literally every killer who are more than willing to help out newer players. And the Hag section of it is always active.0 -

Yeah ive seen some hags drop 4 or five near the hook(one in front two to the sides and one at the nearest pallet and or window)
Yeah, this is completely unnecessary. One or two is all you will ever need, because if they won't trip that one or two you place, they won't trip four or five that you could have spammed at the hook.

Survivors know (or should know) how far the hag can teleport, so if the trap triggers it's their fault.0 -
Place traps during chases, don't try to chase a survivor around the loops with her, cut them off instead. Trap places like, shack, sacrificial tree etc, basement chest(if you are nearby) at the beginning of the round. Her tr is smaller then most of the killers - 24m so monitor and abuse is a pretty good perks for her if you wanna be sneaky.

Keep your trapping somewhat random, don't always trap at a pallet, trap in the middle of shack and jungle gyms/t and l walls. Control 1/2 of the map.

Infinite being the one pallet jump overs or am i missing something? Haha most survivors i see just use pallet jump at the same spot when i go against them
I am mainly talking about the big house loops, you know those that take several gens if looped properly

Like some other people said
set traps
You are not a chaser. if you chase, you're losing slowly. Set them on annoying windows, pallets, make shortcuts so you dont have to derp after the survivor. And if you did, don't chase a survivor who's running into the empty. (of traps)
You dont need perks like BS, enduring, spirit fury, bambozzle, fire up and so on. trap=death , if not: you=foolyou need time
ruin (but not on rank 1s), thana, sloppy, stbfl, pop goes the weasel and so on
you're ######### dangerous with stbfl as a hag ^^
choose a side
means.. chose the side where the generators are very close to each other. So you can patrol them better when it comes to the end of the midgame. and if you use pop goes the weasel you can gain some time. but dont play it like a dog, if you dont kill/down/hook survivors you will lose like every killer wouldbe a tryhard
and here a little secret tip
use one addon for more duration time
so if a survivor triggered a trap and he just loop the pallet you can push him into corner. means because your phantasm stays longer the survivor has you behind him and before him. you just need a brain^^0 -
from what i have seen, trap loops while in a chase to scare survivors out of them and/or trap the loops before so when in a chase they pop the trap and you can get a free hit you can also mind game with this method i think. use make your choice. im only going off of what i have seen and my experience as a trapper main so take what i say with a grain of salt.

Hag is my favorite killer.
I use the hag to gain map control. With her traps I set up a perimeter where I chase my survivors into.
The hard part is, you have to anticipate where they are going. What are the common loops and windows and how you can cut them off.
I like to use MYC, M&A, HG, and BBQ. I love to surprise and scare my survivors.
You can even force HG by pretending to def your totem.
Good luck and have fun with her!0 -

@SpaceCoconut Perhaps you could give this player a few tips?
Anyway some tips of my own, place traps around loops so you can teleport to them when triggered, always try to put a trap by a hooked survivor and try to bring in Make Your Choice, it helps out a lot. NEVER place traps UNDER pallets always beside or near them. I always try and trap my hex totem if I have one but I think that's up to you. And ALWAYS try to play defensively with your gens and loops, never place all your traps by the hooked survivor too, I see many new hags do this and it hurts them a lot. I think this is it from me though. Have fun!!!0 -
I don't play a lot of hag but I played her repeatedly until I got all her teachables and here's some things I've done. When placing traps don't put it where survivors will obviously know where it is and just start crouching through it. Like in front of your totems, or in front of a survivor. Usually I place traps a little bit away from survivors or totems in a way that I know survivors will be walking towards the totem and then trigger the trap before they even get near it. This requires you to know some of the common survivor paths. I never used MYC but hag would be really good with that. Also thrill to protect your devour hope and ruin.

I main Hag, and my strat is similar to the others here, but I do do some things differently. I don’t run MYC, as it requires you to make stupid decisions. Instead, BBQ & Chili is much better, giving you double BP, and teaches you to not tunnel (at least for the first 3 gens). Playing Hag is like playing Chess, you need to out think your opponents. Don’t trap gens at the beginning, as survivors will expect it. Instead, trap pathways (like others have stated), strategic windows (the side where they will fast vault to), drops, and some pallets. The killer shack window on the outside, is a must.
The #1 rule that you don’t want to break is, never have more than 2 or 3 traps available at any time. Rule #2, pick an area that you can cover with your TP, that has at least 3 gens, and don’t leave it for any reason. If gens getting done breaks that, you need to adjust to a new area. Rule #3, don’t get into a chase until you have at least 5 traps down. This can make or break your match. Getting into a chase before you are ready, will almost always end in the survivors getting out. Rule #4, if there are only 2 gens left, and you don’t have enough map pressure, you need to start tunneling, but be smart about it. At 1 gen, camping is a must if you are not doing well. I tend to find that survivors overestimate themselves when they get to 2 gens left, I actually have significant map pressure, and they make really stupid mistakes.
Place traps while in chase, if it will prevent a loop. When trapping a pallet, you want the trap to be at least 2m away from the pallet. If you are in chase, they drop the pallet, and your trap pops, don’t immediately TP to it. Instead FREEZE, and wait a couple seconds. They may just vault the pallet right into you. If they don’t, then TP and smack their ass. Watch Space Coconut for some other ideas, but you need to come up with a style that works for you, and not rely on what works for someone else, even me.
I typically run Iron Grasp (some use Agitation), Monitor & Abuse, BBQ & Chili, and Hex: Ruin (to slow the game down). Monitor & Abuse is an absolute MUST for any killer with a reduced terror radius, as it drops the TR from 24m to 16m, when not in a chase. And it increases your TR to 32m when in a chase, which always throws off the survivors. One of your addons should always be Dried Cicada, or Dragonfly Wings. If you’ve done everything correctly, and you don’t have a toxic SWF group, the survivors should never get more than 3 gens done. When Hex: Ruin gets destroyed, don’t worry about it. It was only there to keep the survivors distracted, nothing more.
This should help you get started, but remember, you are you. Only you will know what works for you. Not some steamer, YouTuber, or even me. It is you that matters, so have fun experimenting, and don’t get discouraged if things don’t exactly work out in the beginning.
Have FUN!

Ok, I just saw this, where to start...
You don't have to play defensively, but if you're new to hag it might be the easiest option.
To play her aggressively, trap pallets and loops that you think they will take during a match as you cross the map looking for survivors.
If you find a survivor and you've only put down 1-3 traps, only chase them if they run towards those traps. Otherwise, ignore them and lay about 2-3 more traps then go hunting.
You can use any perks you like, but Nurse's Calling and Monitor & Abuse are probably must haves unless you're going for a different type of build like slugging, all hexes, or a basement build.
You can search YouTube for videos on Hag, I've got quite a few up and I'm sure you'll find some from other creators that'll help you out as well.
While she's among the best killers now, you will still lose to a gen rush pretty hard. There's not much you can do about it other than to get it over with and move on to the next match.
The best skill you can learn with her is to predict or remember where survivors like to go most often. Trapping those areas before you get into a chase is crucial to your success.
I have some things to get to, so that's about it for now. Good luck in your matches!

@SpaceCoconut
Thanks I'll defiently watch some so i can learn her a bit from watching someone.
@Vietfox @Maximus7 @Peanits thanks for the tips and suggestions as well1 -
@SpaceCoconut i saw how to hag, it gives a lot of nice tips. Thank you. But i do have a question, what do you do with knockout if you know the survivors are SWF before the match? I.e. whats your go to replacement?0
-
Sooo i just ended what would have been a Hatchstandoff as hag o.o i pressed the placement button so i knelt survivor tried jumping in and i had caught them. She's stong(when used correctly) been getting 2-3ks. I like her0

Create a web of traps. You should almost always be putting down traps unless you are chasing a survivor. Speaking of chasing survivors, don't do it unless you are chasing them into your web.
Best places for traps is anywhere that a survivor is likely to go especially during a chase. That means loops, but it also means doorways or windows to certain buildings. Or paths from one loop to the next.
Only place 1 trap when you hook someone unless it's the basement or you just REALLY want to secure the kill. The point of the trap is less to surprise attack the guy saving and more to pressure the guy that got saved. Survivors will crouch up to make a save, when they do you turn around and come back to the hook. They have a choice; run and hit the trap or crouch and get away slower. Either way you will catch them somehow.
Take advantage of the trap's camera flick too. When survivors hit a trap it pulls their camera to them. This can let you mess up their loops if you put traps near a loop but in a way that their camera will be pulled away from the loop. My favorite place to do this is near windows of strong structure loops. Ironworks, for example, put a trap on the right side of the window about 1m away from the wall. If you do it right when you chase a survivor into this building and they run to the window, they hit the trap and it will pull them away from the window for just a moment, letting you close the gap. Of course you could teleport to this trap too, but it's there to screw up survivors.
Make Your Choice is the only perk I would say is a must have on Hag. She's the only one that can instantly be back at a hook to catch the MYC guy. Also helps with the hook pressure I mention above. I personally use M&A, Whispers, and Ruin as my other perks. M&A shrinks your TR to 16m letting you sneak up on survivors. Whispers lets you know when survivors are around, and if you see the perk is dark you are safe to make your web because chances are no one sees you. It also works well with M&A to help you catch survivors off guard. Ruin is just Ruin, but it's the Hag's perk so it makes sense to use it.
Biggest thing as Hag is to learn when to leave a chase. You will do it a lot. If they run to a place where you have no traps just let them go. There are exceptions to this obviously, like if they keep running to the same place then maybe chase them in order to bait another to step into the web or if there's only like 2 survivors left, that sort of thing. But you will have to give up on a lot of chases so just get used to that.
