Background player needs some changes fast.
And it in action

Right now, survivors can choose when to activate this within 10 seconds of a pickup, and then it lasts is whole duration. With the insane speed, this is effectively guaranteeing flashlight saves unless there happens to be a wall nearby, and absolutely guarantees pallet saves. The speed needs to be reduced. It's ridiculously fast, and a whole 5 seconds covers a tremendous amount of distance. We were never given a chance to test the buff on the PTB. This is game breaking. Survivors can literally cross half of the entire map in one burst on the saloon map, for example.

I really don’t understand the point of the clip. You’re getting your hook and that survivor is now exhausted for no reason.
The new BP is fantastic when it works, doesn’t serve much a purpose when it doesn’t, and encourages survivors to stray from the staleness of DH, SB, and Lithe.
Survivors wanting to get value out of BP means you have 50% (at least) of survivors off gens. The survivor you’re chasing and the survivor following you the whole chase, hoping to MAYBE get a save if the killer allows. If you don’t allow it… it’s completely free pressure.

It's working as intended? You wrote the perk description here as if it's a bug. Yes, survivors have a 10 second window so it isn't wasted every single time and they can choose when to use it instead of walking around Exhausted for nothing. No, the sprint doesn't last 10 seconds, it's 5 seconds when activated. Lastly no, it doesn't guarantee anything.

The problem lies in the fact that if you down someone within 30-40m of a generator, the survivor repairing the gen can sprint that distance in 4-5 seconds and get a free pallet/flashlight save, you're not really getting "50% of survivors off gens".
Those 30-40m of range is equal to half a map's length in terms of distance.
If you take into consideration that gens aren't in the exact corners / edges of the map.... and now realistically, BP can make 75% of the entire map unsafe to pick up on if the BP survivor is on a center gen.

See William's response.
I also described the perk's description since not many understand the 10 second rule, that's all.
Anyway, the problem is it makes just about any pickup except on super large maps unsafe. This essentially makes survivors immune to pickups if they are at a pallet, and flashlight saves are essentially guaranteed unless there's a wall nearby. The distance gained is so ridiculous, you can completely be off a killer's radar and still get an easy save. If you're in the vicinity of the killer, that's a guaranteed save at any pallet or any non wall location. If you're further out, you still have a pretty good chance at any save.
And anyone seeing those videos and thinking the speed and distance is fine, you're kidding yourself. It's comical how fast that is. Being able to travel half an entire map's distance (possibpe in saloon map, for example) within 5 seconds is beyond ludicrous. They may as well have gone straight to plaid.

You can blame people complaining that upping background player to 5 seconds was pointless during the ptb causing the devs to unnecessarily buff it further.

Damn... Some of you really won't rest well until all survivors run Calm Spirit, Premonition, Red Herring and Poised every single game. It's getting tiring. Have a nice day.

You can't genuinely believe that survivors being able to cross half of an entire map in 5 seconds is remotely okay.
For what it's worth, ultimate weapon also needs a nerf. Survivors shouldn't be requires to run calm spirit to counter a single perk. I'd at minimum give it a 45 second cooldown.

Odd... The same was said about BBQ and Distortion in the ancient times. That was before lockers blocked auras.
BTW CS also helps against Eruption or Infectious.

The counter argument is that the perk is MEANT for this, it doesn’t guarantee anything but it’s supposed to make getting saves much easier that’s what this perk is purposely aimed towards, because the perk outside of saving other teammates is useless and leaves you exhausted.

I agree it's pretty ridiculous now and frustrating to face. It gives enough speed now that you can be a far enough distance away from where you need to be for the save and it's not really reasonable to expect the killer to search that far for someone potentially going for a save. The old version was limited enough that it didn't feel uncounterable, but that isn't really the case anymore.
I think a much healthier way to buff this perk would have been reducing the exhaustion duration instead like they did with Smash Hit, allowing it to be used more often and making it easier to pair with another exhaustion perk if you want to.
To be fair, that's not really the players' fault. The original buff was pointless and no one could have known ahead of time that BHVR's reaction would be to overbuff the perk.

Well, he managed to move to half the map in 5 seconds, so what?
Just face a wall or use Lightborn and the problem is solved , If you encounter it for the first time, you should not fall into the same hole again

Don't worry, soon you will hear a post saying that it is Red Herring OP and the cool down must be increased so that the killer is not deceived more than once.

Walls aren't always an option, and this makes every downed survivor at a pallet immune to pickups.
3 -
Well leave him there, one of the survivors will have to heal him

So do you want survivors bringing SB, DH, Lithe, etc. instead?
1 -
Well, yes. I'll take that over every pallet in the entire map and any location anywhere on the map not being near a wall as being unsafe for pickups
