Windows and pallets hits
Is it just me, or the pallets and windows hits are getting worse?
When I startup playing this game in 2021, I don't remember getting this kind of hits and its frustating me. My ping does not change much, is between 30 and 40 ms.
On both videos, and they are just two of others I took, I was getting tunneled and and the game offers me this deal, two safe vaults (in my point of view) ruined.

Yo this has been happening to me for a LONG time now. My personal favorite is when I stun the killer and still magically die. Either the killer is stunned and can't move or they hit me, how does a stunned person hurt someone? Logic??
This stuff needs to be fixed like, yesterday.
I hit the button at the palette and it doesn't drop, sometimes the killer gets stunned and they're on the same side as me. Wut?
I never thought I'd see servers worse than FFXIV but here we are. This should be a priority number one to be fixed. Before this I was doing fine, no issues. Now it's weird lag, yesterday it lagged for ten seconds I took damage and then killer got stunned, I thought my game froze.
Also dying 12 feet from the vault is awesome. Great servers btw.

Hit through pallet stun is a problem that has been in the game for ages now.
On the killers screen, they hit you. On your screen you stunned them.
Ping does it's magic and both events happen.

The stun doesn't happen immediately after you drop a pallet though, it has the hitbox that has to reach the killer. So it is possible to drop a pallet, get hit, and then get a stun on the killer even without accounting for ping.

I think the hit box stays behind for a slit second. Like when you vault a window you player vaults the a slit second your hit-box goes through. That and if a killer has ok to bad ping its like they have hinder on your hitbox. I have been hit or grabbed they a vault then I have already taken a few steps away from the vault just teleports me to the spot. most of the time this happens the killer gets a red ping icon.
Same with dropping pallets The drop button comes up I spam it and nothing happens.

Well the formula for ping hits over windows and pallets are probably Killers ping x2 + your ping. Meaning on ~50ms you have an additional 150ms that you can be hit over that pallet on top of how long your hitbox lingers which doesn't have an exact number but is probably something like 0.5s. To be fair if it worked the other way around killers would likely never get hits over windows and pallets even if it expressly looks like they should and in a 4v1 game I think the game should favor the killer's hitbox perspective because otherwise there will be a lot of jank if survivors are favored. New vault speed build 0.3s vaults, good luck killer timings and power hitboxes

As killer I have been getting fake hit out in the open. I hit I hear the sounds of pain and see blood they get a speed boost but no hit. dont happen much I will have to record it. Bug, Ping or you know? I dont think much of it but a bug because it feels like normal game play

It shouldn’t prioritize perspective; it should prioritize ping (internet speed). So while the person with lower ping (a result of faster internet speed) should of course have the better outcome, as is the case in virtually every other online game, in DBD the person with higher ping is prioritized as like a pity. Well, with killers. For some reason low ping doesn’t benefit survivors. Not sure what that’s about.

They tried to do that with first versions of hit validation. Didn't work out.

From my (very limited) understanding, distance from the nearest server also comes into play, right? And I don't think players should be punished if they happen to live relatively far away from the nearest available server. Especially if the region covers a lot of distance.
There's no perfect solution. I just figure if I'm within the Killer's read stain, then I'm in hitting distance and play with that knowledge in mind.

It isn’t working out now. But the way they say it works is that hits (at pallets and vaults) favor killer, while grabs (like off gens and previously hooks—not vaults) favor survivor. Not true for the latter, though.

And it is possible that the killer will be on your side suddenly when hit by the pallet.

prioritizing ping would make it inconsistent which is worse than favoring one side or the other getting hit half the time and not getting a hit half the time both would be terrible

It shouldn’t be side-based, it should be based on whatever player’s info connects with the server first. Like in every other online game.

Anyone know if using Resilience might help with these sorts of hits? Might run it tomorrow and see if it helps

If you have high ping then the game will think your still about to vault while it looks like your vaulting. So not from the start from midway vault you get value.
High ping punishes both killer and survivor. I play as both with high ping. Survivor gets hit through vaults and even pallet stuns. Killer gets stunned even after landing a hit but the survivor with low ping doesn't get hit in that scenario.
I think like 2 years back they did pallet stun validation, it worked for high ping players but was reverted back.

nope I thought the same time still get the hits. You do vault faster but your hitbox still has to keep up.. I had a game last night the killer knew this and got all 4 of us on vaults. You vault take a few steps he swings your down a mile away from the window. Downed so far from the window he would have to vault and get you.

I've literally just come onto the forums to ask this, pallet hits have definitely got worse I keep getting hit from across the other side of the pallet towards the very end of the animation, It's rlly annoying as survivor

Both of these hits aren't all that crazy. We don't have any official information how late a hit can connect but we do know that the action does not grant invincibility (thank god).
The issue is that in DBD hits are so close that even 50ms latency will have a huge impact. Do the math yourself. Even small delays have very noticeable impact when you factor in how fast paced all these actions are.
Obviously it's not perfect and I think BHVR could do a few things to improve this but one side will always be screwed in some way no matter how much fine tuning you put into it. And we have seen already what happens when they try to fix latency completely in favor of survivors (2021 around the anniversary, if I recall correctly).

It's not about ping at all. It's about the hitbox. Most people don't realize this, but if you lunge as a killer, your hitbox is delayed by 0.9 seconds for the lunge. Often times when survivors stun a killer before they hit them, they are actually stunning the killer during the lunge.
However, if you tap m1 instead of lunge, the hitbox comes out IMMEDIATELY, and then the survivor drops the pallet, but by that point, the hitbox is already out. The hitbox for killer attacks, linger very slightly by like a .1-.2 seconds. This means that, the killer taps m1, the survivor drops the pallet, and the hitbox for the attack lingers, and the survivor is hit.
It is actually intended and a mechanic of the game. This is probably what you are seeing most of the time.

Both of the hits look pretty clean when you factor in good ping on both sides below 50 ms.

Again that would still make it side based on ping but not favor one side or the other which would feel worse for both sides instead of being consistent since half the time you would still get hit like that and half the time killers would have half the amount of time to react and hit over a pallet or window with no visual difference.
Its a 1v4 game this should favor the killer because its their objective

If you want to be a top killer player in DBD, subscribe to American Online, or your countries equivalent.
It feels like (to me) that if the Killer has high ping you're gonna get hit when it looks absolutely ridiculous on your end.
There is a reason people will use VPNs to play Killer. It isn't because queue times.

Exploiting bad game design is the killer’s objective? It’s more reasonable to prioritize the faster internet connection. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a faster internet connection?

Well some pallet hits are legit because pallets intentionally don't immediately have a "stun box" it comes through a couple frames after its thrown.

I get so many survivors who camp pallets by doing this. Instead of lunging through it, you just tap m1, and often times they will stun me, but i'll still land the hit.

It would be more reasonable if it were inconsequential but it changes the gameplay around it in a negative way. The faster internet connection still makes you have a smaller window for not being hit your personal internet connection though is not only factor. Ping favors killer, if it goes the other way then dozens of things go with it.

yeah, it is trick for countering survivor that understand pallet vacuum tech which is particularly annoying to play against when your nemesis with his tentacle strike. for m1 killer, just baby swing into pallet drops works like a charm. I did not know that there is delay for normal lunges hitbox. i thought it was only delay for when begin to lunge, not when you let go of the m1.
in regards OP, those hits look intended. ever since they fix that vault bug, I rarely feel like I get hit unfairly through vaults now.
