Pinheads cube spawn within void portals / impossible to pick up

Just had a match against Pinhead and on more than one occasion his cube spawned in the middle of a void portal. I couldn't get the prompt to pick up the cube because the prompt to enter the portal was blocking it.
I'm on Steam but i guess this is the same for all platforms.
