Increase the Anti-Camping Range of Long-Range Killers
The 16 meter range of the current anti-camping measure isn't doing its job as you would hope, especially towards killers who can easily use projectiles or clear that distance to prevent Survivors from attempting to unhook others.
The following changes need to be made in order to make this a better mechanic:
Range Changes
- The Wraith now has a range of 24 meters to account for his fast movement speed while cloaked.
- The Hillbilly now has a range of 32 meters to account for his ability to use the Chainsaw to force trades.
- The Nurse now has a range of 32 meters to account for her ability to blink.
- The Huntress now has a range of 32 meters to account for her ability to use long-ranged hatchets.
- The Spirit now has a range of 24 meters to account for her fast movement speed while phasing.
- The Deathslinger now has a range of 24 meters to account for his 18-meter ranged harpoon gun, which can still catch the Survivor that was recently unhooked.
- The Blight now has a range of 40 meters to account for his map traversal ability.
- The Trickster now has a range of 40 meters to account for his ability to rapidly dish out non-stop damage.
- The Artist now has a range of 24 meters to account for her projectiles.
- The Mastermind now has a range of 24 meters to account for his ability to bound towards Survivors and afflict Deep Wound to the unhooked Survivor while damaging the rescuer at the same time.
Changes Due to Powers
- The Hag now causes the meter to progress while Mud Traps are within 16 meters of a Survivor. For every trap near them, the meter fills by 1.5% every second per trap.
- The Plague now has a range of 32 meters when using Corrupt Purge to account for its ability to damage multiple Survivors within quick succession.
- The Oni now has a range of 64 meters when Blood Fury is active to account for his map traversal ability and the ability to instantly down multiple Survivors, and hit a Survivor multiple times with the same attack.
- The Dredge now has a potentially map-wide range when activating his remnant. When a Remnant is within 16 meters of a Survivor, the gauge will fill up as if The Dredge was directly next to them.
Changes Due to Add-Ons
- The Original Pain add-on for Cenobite now increases the anti-camping range by 24 meters to account for the ability to afflict Deep Wound on injured Survivors caught by the attack.
Changes Due to The Cannibal
Because the anti-camping mechanic actually greatly benefits Cannibal players that decide to still stick around and camp, the following changes would need to be made to him specifically to make it much more fair:
- The Cannibal will instantly go into a longer attack cooldown when hitting a Survivor that has unhooked themselves through the anti-camping mechanic.
- The Cannibal now has a range of 32 meters where the anti-camping meter will start to progress.
Changes Due to the Above
Due to the above changes, the next change would be applied in order to prevent Survivors from exploiting the range changes and the anti-camping changes:
- When a Killer is in chase with a Survivor outside of the original 16 meter range, the anti-camping meter will no longer progress.
With these changes in mind, this should thoroughly prevent some Killers from being able to camp Survivors more effectively than others and allows for a much fairer match altogether.

It's specifically an anti-facecamp mechanic, it was never meant to fix camping in of itself.

no, because if their playing at range they arent face camping. not to mention you can just bait their power. If anything a huntress standing at range is worse than a regular m1 facecamping before the AFC, its easily counterable.

I'm unable to understand how so many people fail to comprehend what the AFC system is and what it's supposed to do.
3 -
Survivors were just hoping it was going to be a magic system that allowed them to get free unhooks regardless of how the killer is playing.

Anti FACE camping. Crucial word that. I understand that certain survivors can't tell the difference between the two but I recommend a dictionary.

As somebody who plays roughly 50/50, I can somewhat agree on one point: Bubba.
16 meters is short and in no way prevents a guaranteed trade (or even downing the unhooked again, the mechanic to prevent that is finicky.) If a Survivor is spotted before they are already unhooking. Trades are fine, any Killer can do it to some extent (although insta-down Killers are better at it) but impossible unhooks shouldn't be a thing.
While a range increase would be too much, the idea BHVR (tried) does have merit.
If Bubba's chainsaw hits the post-unhook Endurance, it should do one of two things.
1: instantly trigger a full-duration tantrum which has no collision. This would prevent effectively becoming a 1-shot wall in tight spaces.
2: disable the chainsaw entirely for a short while (like 30 seconds or something).

Why not map wide? In fact, remove the bar and just let survivors unhook for free whenever they want at this point.

i don't think killer are strong enough at chase to just erase camping hook regression from the game. you need buff m1 killer chase and put a lot more base regression killer kit for that. killer would need like stbfl base-kit, coup base-kit and pain res base-kit on all hooks before you delete an entire strategy on killer.

Not saying it's your fault, but wow this sounds so counterproductive.
Camping is camping, and people getting camped by ranged killers is even more aggravating than the face camp.
Shoot, at least when being face camped I could buy time for my team to finish gens and get out. This is just so discouraging.

16 meters sounds like a distance where you're no longer facecamping. Do you not remember what facecamping actually looks like? Here's a refresher:
And you want to know how far this supposed "anti-facecamp" mechanic extends? This is how far I have to go before it stops:
This is not face camping, this is proximity camping. And even if that 16 meter range somehow was, then me being out of the aura reading range of the Tapp means that I'm no longer considered "face camping" even if I'm a mere .1 meter farther from him.
So no, this is not an anti-facecamping mechanic. This is an anti-camping mechanic, and one that needs a significant overhaul if it wants to do its job against certain Killers such as Huntress, such as Cannibal, such as Trickster, such as Hag.
This mechanic effectively only prevents M1-only Killers or Killers with single-hit mid-ranged abilities from camping and contesting with Survivors. Not ranged, mobility, instant down or multi-hit Killers, or killers who have access to abilities to get back to the hook almost instantaneously.
This is why it needs to be changed.

BHVR: we're releasing an anti-FACECAMP measure
Survivors: WHY ISN'T YOUR ANTICAMP MEASURE WORKING IF THE KILLER IS STANDING ON THE OPPOSITE CORNER OF THE MAP???
5 -
Except it is an anti-facecamp mechanic, it was designed as an anti-facecamp mechanic and even called an anti-facecamp mechanic by the devs themselves multiple times as that's what it's meant to be.
It's not meant to fix proximity camping or any other form of camping.
From the 7.3.0 Mid-Chapter update page
From another anti-camping thread, i'll even leave a link to it.

So no, it's not an anti-camp mechanic and it doesn't matter how you try to spin it, the fact is and always will be that it's meant to be for face camping and face camping only.

It works well and is filled enough if the maniac is on the edge to fill 50-80% before absorbing the player into the tentacles. The only thing where I would make changes is to either increase the filling speed by a third or start the countdown immediately, and not after 3 seconds when the maniac looks back and leaves.

Regardless of the type of killer, at 16m, it is no longer possible to stand not only on the hook but also near the defended Gen or Totem. Is it better for the survivors if there is no longer a killer in the match?

These changes won't get implemented. It is more rare for a killer to facecamp now tbh. The anti-camping/anti-tunnelling features implemented were only to stop things happening almost every game which completely killed variety.
