I love this game, However.
This has been one of my favorite games that I have discovered in a long time. I started by only playing as killer and when i learned how to play each of the killers and learn their abilities DBD slowly became a game that I played almost everyday. This past Christmas I decided to buy my find the game so tat I would have someone to play it with. This would mean I would have to start playing survivor more often and so I did. At this point I'm disappointed to say that I am ashamed that I purchased this game for my friend to play with me.
I know that everyone is going to mention that its a play style or what have you. I recently started getting rather good at survivor and I was devoted to getting my rank down. However, It is the most annoying thing when I load into a game. Get found, which by all means is how the game works, but then when I get hung the killer decides to sit there and face camp me or my friend. I'm sure so many people post about this and some killer mains say its a play style, however, as a killer main myself it is not, its toxic and ruins this games community. While someone is getting face camped all the other survivors are doing gens and its good or what have you but for the people getting camped or tunneled its an immediate way to de-pip and it is the worst feeling ever. I wouldn't mind if I got face camped or tunneled, but when I do that and get instantly de-piped this is where it becomes a problem to me.
There should be a game mechanic implemented that identifies getting camped or getting tunneled, it should be reflected negatively against the killer and should protect the survivor from de-pipping. Back to my friend, there has been good games yes, however, when someone new coming into the game has to deal with it almost straight out of the gate is really not helping the cause of new people coming into the game. These people who are hook camping or tunneling just to get you killed immediately are killing this game not for just me but a ton of people that have to face this toxic behavior everyday. I think the Survivor/ killer rankings is a really cool addition to the game, it pairs you with the right experience level killer or survivors, however as a rank 10 survivor I shouldn't be paired with a rank 10 killer that face camps or tunnels. Its a progression they should remain at a higher level killer rank because as a survivor rank 10 I should expect to be matched with a experienced killer that actually plays this game.
I do know that as I keep progressing my rank there will be more toxic killers. I don't expect a solution to this problem because people will defend it. But as a survivor half of my games shouldn't end on my first hook because a killer wont play the game right and go look for another survivor after the hook. Its a hard problem to solve, thus why it hasn't been solved yet. However, people like this are ruining the game for a lot of people, causing the game community to be very toxic to one another and it is not enjoyable at all. I'm sure the devs are very aware of this issue and its just sad that there isn't anything they can do. I am writing this just after a game where I was face camped and died on the first hook so I'm clearly mad about it. I'm just saying my survivor rank shouldn't have to be negatively reflected because of this. Change the emblem system please. It feels like in order to pip up in this game as a survivor you have to do 2 gens, save someone from the hook, and get chased a good 3 or 4 times all In one game, whereas as a killer all you have to do is just face camp and get 2 or three kills. Its sad.

Defending your hooks is the intelligent thing to do. Running around hoping to get 4 before they complete the gens is mostly relying on luck. Eliminating the people you did down is largely removing luck from the equation.
How successful it is depends on how willing the survivors are to being apathetic to the plight of each other, exiting the gate leaving the victim behind, and how willing the victim is to hang there hopeless to buy the rest time.
DbD is a competitive game simulating a murderer and it's victims. Trying to superimpose a fair and sporting environment over it is only deluding and setting yourself up for disappointment.0 -
Problem is....
Camping and tunneling are words defined by the community on styles of plays that can be performed during a match with a killer.
The concept of Camping and Tunneling are rules set forth from the players.
You don't like it, so you play without those made up rules.
However, there is no rule from the Devs that state... You must play by the made up rules of other players.
One thing that makes DBD fun is the freedom you have on the playstyles you want to play. We don't need to be pigeon holed into a certain vanilla playstyle that will in the end make the game boring.
The emblem system is used as the tool to mold peoples playstyles, into ones that are more fun for BOTH sides.
People should be able to play the game how they wish. If you don't like it, then change your mindset on those made-up-rules, or stop playing.
Also... The game isn't new player friendly, which I agree. But maybe you should have considered when pairing up with your friend, that it would be you, that makes it harder for them to play. Since your harder rank will make them play against harder killers.

I like how people completely convinced themselves that "tunnelling" shouldn't be allowed.
It's hard to understand where is this delusion is coming from. It's a game about numbers, of course eliminating one as soon as possible is the best thing you can do, as the game gets exponentially easier. It's not a "play style or what have you". It's objectively the optimal play.
Sure, it's not "fun" but this is a clear conclusion if you look at the game's fundamental mechanics. If you can't
handle it, i dont know what to tell you. Play Civ. 5 or something. On the other hand, i get it. No one likes to be on the receiving end of a quick death. At least you get to play the next game fast.

Again, I will repeat this. I as a killer am not responsible for the fun of the survivor. I as a survivor am not responsible for the fun of the killer. This is a 4v1 PvP game not Rainbow Brite for the NES.

Yeah, i started playing, loved it. Wanted my friends to get it.
Then ran into my first genrushing, and got a wakeup call.
Did some research on SWFs, realized how common they are, and the crap they do, and, well, i can't recommend the game anymore.
I can't in good faith put friends through the frustration SWF brings, and the fact nothing is really being done about them.
I still love the game. Still buy stuff with auric cells.
But unfortunately it really did stop being the game I read about that got me playing to begin with.
1 killer vs 4 solos/strangers.
SWF is just so common, and gambling on how sweaty they will be is zero fun.0
