Dead by Daylight is like Wheel of Fortune
I've been meaning to make this post for a while but have been procrastinating. Today, someone asked what we would want in a DBD 2. There's no reason for a DBD 2 because DBD is like the game show Wheel of Fortune.
Let me explain:
Wheel of fortune has a formula that has kept an audience for decades: Spin the Wheel, guess a letter, buy a vowel and solve the puzzle. Over the decades, the game makes tweaks and changes things here and there but never strays from the core.
DBD has a formula that also keeps people coming back: fix 5 generators, unhook teammates, open exit gates and escape (opposite objectives for killers).
There's no reason to make a sequel and like Wheel of Fortune, they just make little tweaks through the years and decades.
I love playing Wheel of Fortune and DBD for the same reasons (I play Wheel of Fortune on Switch). The objectives get you hooked and keep you playing.

At some point, you need to make a sequel.=)
Whether you like it or not, the game industry moving on with a new engines. The games that are "going with the time" much more attractive and desirable.
At least for me. 😋

Can't they upgrade the engine without making an entire new game?

Amm... No. xD
It's not how that works.=)
New engine = new game only.

But Friday the 13th: The Game did it. It has to be possible:

That looks very odd for an "Engine update". xD
I'm not an expert in this, but I feel like they just "upgraded" the graphics. Not the engine. (Actually previous graphics were better. xD)
Let's say... The game using Unreal Engine 4 right now. If they want to move it to Unreal Engine 5 - they will need to make the same game, but from scratch, using Unreal Engine 5. Since new Engines works with different (most of the time easier) codes.
Only by this state it's impossible to upgrade the Engine alone.
The developers of Smite (game), are about to create a Smite 2 with new Engine (they want to move from 3 to 4), and players were arguing about it's possibility, since: "You will need to redo all characters and their skins, based on new Unreal Engine 4 from there".

…also zero toxicity in WoF which makes it even more enjoyable (no teabagging the host, or hitting the contestants when they out-solve each other in a toss-up round, and the chat remains civil, maintaining good sportsmanship throughout the game, save for a few witty comments from PS here n there).
All-in-all, it’s a fairly pleasant 30min experience, n I’m not even a regular Wheel Watcher, either😄
