Killer hitting through survivors trying to take protection hits?

I'm not sure if this is a collision problem or something else but I have seen this happen to a Fog Whisperer with a Leigion and it happened to me with a Nemesis. Going for a protection hit I ran behind the survivor and infront of the killer and Nemesis used his whip and instead of hitting me it went through me and hut her into the dying state. What I saw with The Legion was she swung through the Fog Whisperer and downed the person she was trying to protect. Please look into this and if you need more information it was on Hawkins and I play on the Switch when it happend to me.
