What is the purpose of the “dumb tech”?
I’ve seen YouTubers call this move a dumb tech: when you stun the killer with a pallet then vault through them. What is the purpose of this tech? Is it just for fun? Is it supposed to confuse the killer?

Depends on who you ask.
My explanation of it is as follows:
- It mostly works on new Killers, the "dumb tech" does not provide any advantage really, it only really puts you at a disadvantage, and I always saw it as BM since people often use it to make fun of new or unexperienced Killers.
- The original name for the tech (seeing how it was used to make fun of people) had a far more harsh name as it used an ableist slur, obviously people stopped using the original name and started using "dumb tech" or "stupid tech" instead.
- To put it bluntly, I always disliked it, it's origins, name, and usage is only there to make fun of people and mock them.
Obviously my perception of the whole thing is different from someone else's perception, we each have our own set of bias, I would recommend hearing all possible sides before formulating your own opinion on this.

Where are you getting the ableist slur information? I've been looking but I've never seen it referred to as anything else besides dumb tech.
There's a post on Reddit from four years ago that's the earliest mention of it I've seen and they still called it a dumb tech.

Ive been playing since 2018; I heard this term used a lot in Voice Chats and in older YouTube videos (way before the demonetization standards and restrictions were put in place). Keep in mind, the internet was different back then compared to now.

It must've been group-specific then because I've never heard it referred to as anything else. I started playing in 2020, but I also have a friend who's been playing since release who says he's never heard it as anything else either.

They were from stuff I watched back in 2018, back on my old PC which I have long since gotten rid of. I cant exactly find that stuff easily unless you happen to have a time machine or something.
I can try to find an example, but Im not sure if Im allowed to post it even if I do find it, since ya know, that kind of language isnt allowed on the Forums.

Ok so your proof is that you heard it one time from a source you can't verify, therefore I don't believe it's fair to say it "started" as an ableist slur but the name changed when all current records prove otherwise.
Also I'm drunk and I know this doesn't matter at all it's just the principle of it so gosh darnit I'm going to argue with you because i want to.

It wasnt "a single time", I saw it being used many time in Playstation community chats and sometimes Id join VCs because I didnt want to be alone (but I also didnt SWF either, I just wanted someone to talk to) and Id hear people use that term a lot.
If you didnt hear it back then, then good for you, but I have a few friends who have heard it before, but they also played on Playstation at the time, they never used the original name themselves but they have heard other people say it; perhaps it was just a Console thing? Idk.

Regardless my point is that its an anecdotal blanket statement that you're using to justify the use of a fun, stupid tech

Final statement I will give on this:
- I never said people couldnt do it, it's a game, people can play how they want.
- That being said, Ill play how I want, and I wont use the Dumb Tech since I see it as BM; and I only BM other players if they BM me first.
