STBFL Rework Suggestion
So I recently had this idea and saw the new roadmap and figured I offer up my idea. I'm sure you guys have something fleshed out and may actually end up being better than what I have in mind. First lets point out the core issues with STBFL. (For anyone who doesn't know STBFL = "Save the Best for Last" which is a perk from The Shape. See image below.)
So first off you gain and lose tokens from basic attacks which means many killers use their special attack on the obsession if possible to avoid losing stacks and avoid using it on non obsessions so they can gain stacks. This causes very bland and predictable usage of their power which isn't the most engaging experience between survivor and killer. The other issue is some killers will just outright avoid or not commit to chase on the obsession especially if they can't use their power easily to avoid the loss of stacks. This leads to the obsession being avoided by the killer which can be very boring for them. Another issue is the obsession trying to body block to counter the perk basically does nothing when someone like demo will just use shred.
So here's my suggestion:
- you now gain and lose tokens with special attacks (faster recovery is still ONLY for basic attacks)
- Hitting the obsession while they're healthy takes away 2 tokens
- Hitting the obsession while they're injured takes away 1 token
This keeps the function of STBFL in tact but makes it less punishing to commit to chase on the obsession and also removes any incentive to use your power or not as you'll gain/lose tokens regardless. This will mean you'll simply choose the best play whether it's mind gaming with your power, baiting it, or whatever. It also allows the obsession to take hits to try to get rid of their stacks to try and counterplay the perk. I can't wait to see what the people at BHVR have in store but figured I'd provide my thoughts on the perk as it is now and what I would do to it to make it more viable and engaging on killers regardless of their kit/power.
