Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Upcoming Onryo update suggestion

Onryo is on the roadmap and let's be real, they're going to nerf her because her kill rate is too high, especially in low-mid mmr matches. Though, the reason for her high kill rate is because most survivors don't understand her counterplay, which is to hold onto tapes from the start of the match rather than running around inserting them into TVs. Getting hit with a tape only applies 2 Condemn, which only takes 30 seconds for Onryo to build on 1 survivor. This makes it far more efficient to just hold onto a tape than run around inserting them since it only takes 30 seconds to outvalue the downside of holding a tape. Holding onto tapes for several minutes can prevent over 10 Condemn stacks. This gives immense value for no effort and is vastly better than running around doing tapes, which wastes time while building more Condemn. Furthermore, the risk of holding a tape is low since it usually takes Onryo far longer than 30 seconds to clear tapes, especially when multiple survivors are holding them. Furthermore, when most of the team is holding tapes, she is forced to chase as a M1 killer as her teleports no longer build Condemn. This makes Onryo very strong against players who don't know her counterplay but much weaker against people who do.

Therefore, I have 2 suggestions:

  • make inserting tapes the primary counterplay. Holding onto tapes is far too unintuitive for players and results in her inflated kill rate and being a noob stomper.
  • nerf holding onto tapes as a counterplay since it turns her into a m1 killer
