I miss casual DBD. (vent)
I've really struggled, as a more casually-minded player, to have as much fun with DBD as I used to. I think the recent MMR change has a lot to do with it.
Almost (sometimes not even almost) every killer game nowadays is against syringes and and strong toolboxes and P100s where everyone has the most insane Dead Hards I've ever seen. I can't remember the last killer game I played without 2 or more Adrenaline users. It feels like my options are either to tunnel and bring super strong perks that I'm sick of, or accept the 3 total hook stages I'm likely to get and prepare to watch very bright Neas teabag on their way out.
Survivors games haven't been much different. The amount of Weskers and Blights and Spirits I've seen in the past few weeks is making me forget that other killers even exist. Can't throw a tennis ball without my dog running face-first into a Pain Res/Pop/Corrupt build. I miss the wacky builds! The meme add-ons! I miss seeing The Pig!
Meanwhile, my silly ass is running Hex: Ruin in 2023 because I'm sick of Pain Res and Pop. Spreading hook stages because I think it's more fun than the alternative. Throwing on Leverage/Blood Echo for a laugh. Playing Legion or Doctor, like, at all. I'm running Dance With Me for an archive and looting chests in the basement. And then I get obliterated by a Chucky who put 3 slowdown perks on and decided that he really didn't like the way Meg looked at him. I eat multiple different survivors' FTP + Buckle Up in the same game and then get completely crushed by a quadruple Adrenaline—you get the picture. These games used to be the outliers, but it's damn near every single game nowadays.
"Skill issue" is kinda accurate, sure. I have 700-ish hours spread out over about 5 years. I'm not good enough to beat 2000 hour SWFs with enough syringes to make a vaccination clinic blush without trying way harder than I care to. But those games didn't used to be the norm, y'know? They were the exception to the rule. Most games I could throw on some goofy ######### with, like, one decent perk to make sure I wasn't completely useless, and just chill.
This is entirely a vent post, by the way. I think it would be cool if they reverted the recent MMR change, personally, but I understand why they did it. The game's growing in its own direction, and not every game has to stay fun for everyone forever. I'm not a particularly competitive gal, as you've probably gathered, and if the game wants to cater to those people, that's totally okay. It just doesn't include me, anymore. And that's kind of a shame.

I mean technically of you keep getting stomped your mmr should drop to a value were you can start using bad killers and meme perks and still yield results.
I personally like more the mmr change they did, it actually made pubs somewhat interesting, before people lost matches to M1 killers in supposed high mmr, that was a disgrace. Now you get people that will devour pig, doctor, trapper, myers and freddy showing you they are at least decent at the game.
For killer it made you start to learn high skill ceiling killers and drop the meme ones, it makes the game more skill oriented and I like that.
However this is not to say mmr made everyone a comp player that can go toe to toe with a good build, I main slinger and people still let me 4k, so still plenty of bad players around for you to play bad killers.
