Don't feel comfortable playing survivor while a cheating killer bot is on the loose

I am posting this here because none of the other subforums seem to fit.

Twice yesterday I ran into a cheating killer bot. Both matches played out exactly the same:

  • All survivors loaded in downed.
  • The killer was playing P100 Chucky with the Tiffany skin.
  • The killer had the same display name both times and showed up as cross-play from the perspective of PC (Steam).
  • The killer rapidly hooked us one after the other by teleporting to one, picking them up, teleporting to a hook, and hooking them, and repeating until we were all hooked.
  • Once all of us were hooked, we were immediately sacrificed, despite all being on first stage.
  • In post game, it showed that all of the survivors disconnected, and I had a matchmaking penalty consistent with this. (5sec at first, then 5 minutes the second time.)

The last point in particular is extremely concerning and makes me very uncomfortable to play. It appears that the DBD servers allow one player to tell the server that another player disconnected.

This is completely unacceptable and belies extremely poor security practices at BHVR. Something this egregiously exploitable should never have made it to live servers at it serves no logical purpose.

Security 101 is the principle of least privilege: users may only do what they need to do, and no more. There is absolutely no reason for one player to be able to tell the server another player disconnected.

I find it extremely unsettling that another player can impose a matchmaking ban on me by exploiting this weakness, and I do not feel comfortable playing very much until BHVR confirms this exploit is no longer possible.
