Events Discussion: Grind VS "Having Something To Do"

I feel like Events would be far better if they had a bit more substance behind them.

When looking at other games, they typically have a bit more going on.

Warframe is current having its Operation: Gargoyle's Cry Event, which has a lot of new content for veteran players to farm out. Of course there are also a lot of other stuff for people to farm for, those who go the extra mile can farm out rare or hard to obtain items at a faster and more consistent pace, it gives people a reason to keep playing BUT does not force them to since you can obtain the items naturally anyways.

With Dead By Daylight, I feel like I only have to do the bare minimum. I do the Event Archives and I move on because there is no realistic reason for me to engage with the Event outside of the cosmetics. The exception to this is the Anniversary, but during the Anniversary I feel forced to play because Im basically shooting myself in the foot if I play anything else, and leads to me feeling burnt out for a few months following it.

I personally feel as if there is a better way to approach designing an Event for the game, the game needs to have rewards for people who go the extra mile but are not overbearing enough to feel grindy.

I think the perfect example of what you described and how it would work in DBD is the Hallowed Blight.

Over 2 years ago I even made a small poll here to see which event was everyone's favorite, and that one clearly won. The Hallowed Blight seems to be what an ideal DBD event looks like.
