Should Kate be free character?

In my opinion: yes, solely because I think the perk Windows of Opportunity should be available for beginners

When new players arrive they get butchered because their lack of knowledge. They don't know the killer abilities, get overwhelmed because there are so many perks but don't know which ones are any good, are having a hard time finding their way on the maps ...WoO can help find your way on the maps + gives beginners a chance at escaping a chase.

Longue time I've wondered why I love this game but so many of my friends quit after a few sessions and thn it hit me. I got lucky to encounter WoO very fast in the shrine of secrets. Even I was on the fence about the game at that time, but this perk changed everything for me.

So now I'm wondering what the community thinks about this?

I think Feng Min and Doctor should be a free characters on all platforms myself (they aren't on PC, but are on console). Both characters have good perks for a starter player.

Feng Min has a strong escape, help with skillchecks, and a decent info perk for new players to get going on.

Doctor has help reducing TR that is good alone at newbie levels, and a decent gen slowdown perk in Overcharge, that is sorely missing for base game players (seriously base game has nothing better than Unnerving Presence, Hex: Huntress Lullaby and Thana...).

That said, Curtain Call Chapter is free on Switch, and has Clown which has great new player starter perks in Bamboozle and Pop Goes The Weasel.

Kate has one perk in Windows... personally I hate this perk, cause I still maintain it makes you worse at the game, and makes it harder to learn....

But you are right it helps new players not get bodied over and over again... so it's not an unreasonable chapter to have for free.

We're more of the opinion that older chapters (that aren't licensed) should be discounted for shards (like ace).

We maybe biased as we started playing round Doc's release, but all players (killers and survivors) should learn to not rely on anything. We've seen a disturbing increase in reliance of perks than any skills from either side. We had delt with old ruin and doc when new and from that we learned to hit DAMN hard skill checks, totem spots, how to run semi well (couldn't really hide from a doc, especially as a newbie) all without relying on perks.

We then get into the blindness effect and as we're seeing atleast, windows is HEAVILY affecting how survivors run already. Blindness turns alot of people into potatoes for us to fry, what would happen to newer players?

We maybe rambling Abit but we want people to be able to play well without having to lean on perks.

No Kate should not be a free Survivor.

But bHVR should reach an agreement with the Community on which perks super good for for new Survivors and then make those perks available at all times for discounted price in the Shrine. THAT is how I wish bHVR would address the problem.

I don't think the value of WoO scales well towards the lower end of the player base considering most of them see a yellow object and just run at it without much planning. They have the information, but not the game knowledge and experience to use that information to its fullest.

Forget the shrine. Perks should be purchased from the Store just as individual characters are.

    500 AC / 9000 IS for a character.

160 AC / 2900 IS for a perk. (discounted from the character cost if you later choose to buy them, e.g. you buy a perk for 2900 IS, that character now costs 7100 IS for you, but still 500 AC. Or you buy a perk for 160 AC, characternow costs 340 AC, or 7100 IS.)

Licensed characters perks can be bought for IS, after a few months (considering they can be in the Shrine anyway)

Then have the Shrine as a way to get random weekly perks at a discount for 2000 IS.

If Kate becomes free then that means Clown would also be free along with free Pop.

Yeah I'd be in favor of a shop-like system where you can just buy all (older) perks for IS with some of them on sale each week aswell. Could've made some of my friends who quit big fans imo
