New Update will Be a Killer Buff

Sure its an us vs them style headline, but despite the posts we're seeing on the forum the new patch is a buff to killers.

Let's start with the basics, every killer has just gained increased gen regression. Double the regression from a kick and survivors can no longer tap gens to stop regression.

So that is every killer. If you weren't 3 genning you just got a buff. The anti 3 gen feature is an overall killer buff.

What's the downside? 8 regression events. Judging by forum posts we're back in anti-face camp territory, when some people were saying it was going to fundamentally change the game and be abused, when the vast majority of players never see it trigger. Even a full gen regression build is going to struggle to fill 8 gen regression events over the course of a game.

So if the killer is playing any style of game except no gen kick they just got a buff. One particular style of the game that was viewed as abusive (3 gen from the start) and boring got a nerf. And 3 genning isn't even dead as you still need 8 regression events before the nerf kicks in, which is more than enough time to turn the game in the killer's favor.

Some people are saying things like Nowhere to Hide are now useless. Nowhere to Hide just got a buff. Each time you kick the gen you're getting more value out of the kick than you did before. Trail of Torment now gets a 5 second buff on top of the added gen regression.

Then we've got the base kit shadowborn. Its a good accessibility change, but its a buff to killers the only question is how much the added FoV will change spotting.

Perks: Okay, save the best for last will be weaker (deservedly so and its far from dead), but killers now have a Grim Embrace that is so strong that it looks impossible that it will make it to servers the way it is.

Really STBFL and dedicated 3 genners are the only killers this patch affects in a negative way, all other killers get a buff. As a person who plays the game much closer to 50/50 now a days, but much prefers the survivor role, I'd rather the patch not happen because we'll get even stronger killers.

True actually, people here complain and overreact to much, though its an influx of those accounts that only come every update or so, make complaints without proposing solutions and disappear until the next one. People vastly overestimate how many gens actually get kicked per game even with gen kicking perks, and overestimate the amount of kicks they give to the same single generator by a frankly hilarious amount if they think it affects more than one in twenty games.

What people forget is that before this update when BHVR wanted to try to change a Killers playstyle they just tried to force it with new mechanics or penalties instead of encouraging "healthier" gameplay in any way, this Update atleast tries to go towards this direction with the increased gen kick penalties and the massive Grim Embrace buff.

Oh 100%. The reaction of some people has surprised me. Those who 3 gen will be upset, but the devs knew that would be the case, but those same people can't see the forest for the trees. I don't even think 3 genning got hit that hard, especially on certain maps where 3 gens spawn close to each other. The gen tap nerf will still help them hold a 3 gen.

You know, it's a good thing when these mechanics don't come into play, right? They are not supposed to interfere with normal gameplay but to prevent the absolute extremes. Which is exactly what this will do.

No more 3 gen for all eternity. Eventually the killer will have used the 8 stacks on the last 3 gens and then you just progress. Just like the AFC stops face camping but doesn't do much in normal gameplay (or proxy camping).

I don't get it. There were a lot of complaints about how killers just defended 3 gens and it was insufferable. Now they add a mechanic to prevent something like this from happening but it's disregarded completely. Make it make sense.

The difference between this and anti-face camp is the killer buff.

AFC was a straightforward 'killer if you do this, you get punished'. To accomplish the anti 3-gen BHVR has given a buff to all other killers (higher gen kick regression, no gen taps to stop regression).

How much of a buff we'll need to wait and see until the final changes after the PTB.

Is it worth it (which presumes a trade off was necessary)? We'll see, I didn't run into 3 genning frequently enough since the end of Overbrine (especially a type that would be impacted by this change) to worry about it that much, but others might hit it a lot more than I do. Though that extra 2.5% on the gen regression will make the initial attempt to break the 3 gen even harder.

I am surprised how many people hating this (on killer side specifically)

Only parts I dislike is how they changed Ruin and STBFL obsession part but its whatever I guess.

Gen tapping gone and giving me 4 perk slots with fov slider are huge changes that are immensely buffing my killer gameplay overall.

Either people dont realize it, or they act like they dont? Not sure
