Are challenges a good idea ?
Part of think it's good because yay bps but sometimes when I try to complete some, that it's already failed or near impossible to complete/continue, and that I already tried as much as I could for multiple games already, I feel like I'd rather just kill myself on hook than continue the game (though I can't because I'm not alone as a survivor and I can't kill myself as killer, nor DC, else the challenge's progression would be reset).
Anyone has other points to show about challenges ?

I feel this for flashlight challenges if the person brings lightborn I’m just gonna kill my self and get a game where my challenge is doable

Any particular challenge?

I see them as a way to insert artificial mistakes into matches. They get players running around doing things not always beneficial to survival or killing.

They're a fantastic idea from a dev perspective. It's extra incentive to play more then a person otherwise would.
From a personal perspective I also feel the exact same. They give me more reason to stay and play by giving me something extra to do.
I can say with some confidence if not for the challenges I would have left this game years ago even though I'm having fun. They keep it just fresh enough for me to want to stay.

Challenges are good. At least in theory. However, the way they are designed is not good. Because Survivor-Challenges are often "throw the game" while Killer-Challenges are mostly "play the game".
Survivor-Challenges should also be "play the game", because then less people would actually suicide to get into the next game to complete their challenges (even tho I did not notice this happening on a regular basis in my games). Because if you have stupid stuff like blinding or stunning the Killer X times during a game and you go against a Nurse or a similar Killer, it will mean that you will not do any progress. Or when you have to cleanse 20 Totems, you are also throwing the game (or, to be more precise, at least 4 of them).
So while challenges in itself are great, their design is bad.

Because how the game is, challenges give advantage to killer. Since all killer’ gameplay is a loop of action. You just need to play it normally.
Survivors on the other hand. You cant do Gen if get tunneled, you cant heal 3 times if get tunneled. You cant safe unhook if get tunneled..

I have a lot of fun with them, it encourages you to think about perks, builds, and even characters/ add-ons you wpuldnt normally use, that would give you the best chances of achieving them.
I had one from Tome 3 to grab a survivor out of a locker using Iron Maiden... You rarely get locker grabs in most games, so how do you get it?
I took Myers and the add-ons for longer stalk time in exchange for longer t3 with Corrupt Intervention and pretended to be Tombstone Piece Myers. Got it in like 2 minutes on the first survivor in my first game 😅

I think it's mostly about mentality. If you have the killer challenge "Sacrafice 8 survivors to the entity", Killers will obviously know this is going to take multiple matches. If you have the survivor challenge "Drop 8 pallets while in chase"... you'll have ppl trying to get it done in 1 chase.

I agree, it is the thing that keeps me interested in the game now. I have got all characters to P3, so I have all perks. Now I am just farming the archives I missed. In fact, I went full nerd and created a spreadsheet for my remaining archives.
Data, tables, and graphs, OH MY!

It would be nice if they were all active and allowed you to play matches like regular. The system of making you do one at a time is why they're an issue because now you're going into matches specifically for one goal. On that note, the Glyph challenges should be something all players have access to, not just the specific player with that challenge. If they were incorporated into regular gameplay as a new element, I could see it adding more objectives for both sides to work towards for the benefits they'd bring.
As they stand now, they're a nuisance at best and a detriment to a match at worse.

I like having something to do outside of the standard gameplay loop.

True, this is another issue when you have challenges which just require playing the game and challenges which require you to either throw the game or do something outside of the main objective.

They need to stop putting certain challenges in the game. Challenges to cleanse totems and open chests need to go. These outright encourage you to throw the game.
