Campfire
When you boot up the menu and it shows the killer and four random survivors are they allowed to talk to each other or does the entity make them sit in complete silence?

Aside from the obvious that is that the killer cant talk to them and also that the killers are not watching them all the time like it is shown in the lobby screen, the survs can talk to each other perfectly fine

Reminds me of that kid's show "Are you afraid of the Dark?" where they told scary stories around the campfire.

I believe this is a totally accurate and only true answer regarding any interractions in the lobby:

I heard that the campfire is hope and the killers can’t get near it. Another theory they loose memories if they die so them talking isn’t worth it if they won’t remember it. But I think they are just recovering. They can leave the campfire and search the fog but there are monsters out there. So they probably are just resting before they get sent to a trial/searching for resources
