Guys be honest...
I need an honest opinion from you guys, if we do eventually get cross saves for DBD do you think any console will be excluded?
I originally played on Switch and have over 2000 hours in game along with almost all survivors and so many cosmetics via store and rift pass however Switch were for whatever reason excluded from Twitch Drops which makes me wonder if they'll be unable to do cross save.
This would be unfortunate as I now own a PS5 and would very much prefer to have all of my stuff again at some point in time.

Nobody can say that except for the Devs. And they have been quiet about Cross-Progression for quite some time now.
In my opinion, it is probably out of their control at this point. Probably one or multiple platforms make it hard or impossible to implement cross-progression. If it would be abandoned, the Devs would communicate this, but it is most likely out of their control.

Cross progression as a technical constraint is not hard. The hard part is cross-play, which they have already have. Likely it is a policy situation. My understanding on cross progression for most games is that sony has a horribly policy where like, if they lose a percentage of revenue of their cut when you do cross progression, you have to recoup their "loss" from your other platforms based on a percentage of sales.
Basically, sony makes you pay for things not on their platform if they think they aren't making enough money from you on their platform. Pretty terrible imo.

Sony for sure, and in all honestly, Sony set a precedent. Microsoft and Nintendo aren't going to be "nice" either anymore. Fortnite is shown as the "See? It can be done, why can't BHVR do it?" argument, but the truth is the only reason Fortnite is able to is because Epic Games pays Sony a fee for "lost sales". If you buy a Fortnite skin on say Xbox, then go to play on a PS5, then Epic Games has to pay Sony the same cut they would have gotten had you bought the skin on PS5. While the other consoles do not do this, you can bet the farm that they will in the future.
Another example is the game Smite. They have cross-progression with all platforms but Sony. Why? Because Sony tried to do the same deal they did with Fortnite and Smite's devs said no.

We are no longer excluded on Switch. We're just getting promo codes.

The fact it's not available on other platforms either kinda throws shade on all console platforms in general tbh.
Only reason Sony gets flack is the actual official Sony policy has been leaked, which is actually an illegal document for someone to have shared, as anyone with access to it is under an NDA... and you can bet other platforms have the same kind of agreements.

True, if i were BHVR, i would implement it on the platforms that don't have this kind of ridiculous policy, and when asked "why not playstation" i would simply answer: "take it up with sony"

I never knew why everyone blamed Sony. Thank you for that information.

Aye its all available on a quick Google search. Of course, this was information from 2019, which is coming to nearly 5 years ago now.
Who knows what the situation is now, especially since the COVID games market boon, companies will be wanting to attract players more than ever after that highly successful few years.

A shame these posts are impossible to see without a Twitter account. They need to find other ways to distribute promo codes, I have to rely on people posting them on these forums to find them.

Did you get both Bloodpoint codes yesterday? LIGHTSOUT & ALANWAKECHAPTER in case you missed them.

Switch actually was already confirmed to get cross progression. BHVR stated that they ran into ‚technical issues‘ and it will be postponed.
and now it seems like it will never come. And no real updstes from them as well 🫠 I bought the game on switch only because of cross progression being announced with a confirmed release month but well…

I've stopped hoping for cross-progression. They won't even do cross-progression for Xbox console and Xbox PC even though it's all the same Xbox and Microsoft account, and much smaller games offer this feature.

Yes, I did, thanks to your thread yesterday.

Thank you so much for all the replies guys! Tbh I always thought Nintendo was the issue due to no twitch drops last time but now hearing that it's actually Sony who are kinda iffy with cross progression and such was helpful.
I'm keeping my hopes up to someday have all of my stuff again on dbd but until then I'll power through!

I was able to get Twitch drops on my Switch version of Warframe back when I played it. It's totally possible, dunno why BHVR can't/won't do it for us.
