Could the new Lights Out event possible provide some insight into both sides?
I'm very excited for the upcoming event! It think it will be a fun exciting challenge and it's refreshing to have something so different. This made me wonder if this might be a good opportunity to really gage an understanding for both killer and survivor when nothing but skill or luck is involved. No perks to rely on, no add-ons. Just the killers power and the survivors resourcefulness (items from chests and map sense etc.) I think this will be a great way to understand what both sides are capable of without anything else to "carry" them through. Anyone else thinking this could bring some insight? Nobody can blame crutch perks so it will be interesting to see how it plays out for both sides! Exciting and curious to what I can learn from it, as well as others in the community. (I should edit this to say that I mean this exclusively in Solo Q.)

In a world with 0 perks, survivors win every time. Unless you are talking about the "average" solo queue survivor experience. There really isn't any debate on this. At the highest levels, there are a reason every tournament has special rules and scoring systems and handicaps in place (against the survivors) because without them survivors win with 3-4 escapes every game.

You have a good point but my cynical side tells me that few people will want to play it when they can't bring their favorite toys with them. No gen regression, no exhaustion perks, no Windows of Opportunity...
I think BHVR is making a good call when they're making this a limited time thing. I think the best way to handle all these side-modes they're working on is to make them intermittently available, on a rotation, so that they don't overstay their welcome and wear the novelty off too fast.
I think it would also be a good idea to offer bonus rewards for playing them since these modes might be more difficult/unbalanced than regular play.

I've just edited my post, I do mean exclusively Solo. Sorry for not making that clear.

This won't show people anything because we don't usually know if all 4 survivors are solo.
What this will show is that when people have really limited vision of the map, and zero perks, that voice communications are an even bigger game advantage than they are in the regular mode.

It will be interesting to see.

I think the reason they went with this game mode first over all the game modes people have been asking for is specifically to get information on how necessary some perks, items, and addons are and to try and see what really is and what isn't an issue.

Yeah theres also several restrictions for killers as well, and Survivors in tournaments arent going against average pub killers. Theyre going against people of the exact same caliber and its not uncommon for killers to snowball like crazy.
