An Idea: Lights Out for Normal Trials

I don't want to put this in suggestions because few people even go there and I want a discussion, from Survivors and Killers.

Many Killers feel gens pop too fast, many Survivors feel that just doing gens is boring. With the Lights Out mode, I got an idea 💡

What if all maps start out in Lights Out mode?

The Survivors can find 5 light switches per map to turn on (by pulling a lever, like the steam lever in the Alien spaceship).

If they choose not to and just rush the gens, the Lights Out rules will apply (no TR of the killer and impaired vision) in the specific area.

The light switches will power only the area / radius of 1 generator. The Killers can shut off light switches unless all 5 are powered on simultaneously in which case they remain on for the trial.

I like this as an idea and want to know what you all, including devs, think.

Do you like this? What would you change? As someone who plays both roles, I think this would be fun - adding a new objective without removing the traditional ones.

For clarity, I'm wanting this for our normal mode, not a modifier.

Please discuss and state which role(s) you play.

Thanks 😊

EDIT: This would enable devs to make new perks that we would actually equip 👍

Would be cool if the Devs kept Light’s Out as a separate game mode, and tweaked it with features such as the switches and their functions that you’ve creatively bestowed upon the community!

Like it! Think you’ve suggested some awesome ideas that the Devs would be on-board with implementing. Nice!

Cool suggestion, but where would the light come from in outdoor maps?

Feel like you'd have killers out there who would WANT the switches flipped. High mobility killers don't work to great when there's limited visibility.

They could easily fit them on a wall or add lampposts to outdoor maps. It doesn't have to make perfect sense imo. The exit gates and generators for example are all powered underground.

I've often suggested the idea of maps starting out dark and getting progressively lighter as gens get done.

Lights out is a premise that works great on its own but integrating it at game start with more features and information coming to light as the map gets lighter with the progression of gens would be an amazing addition.

Game starts in lights out, you complete a gen it gets lighter and you get survivor activity info, complete another lighter still and you get the heart beat and red stain, 3rd gen is terror radius and visual terror radius queues.

Could also work in the opposite direction as hooks progress things unlock. Get half gens done and half hook states complete and you have basically classic game of DBD mechanically from that point.

Doesn't have to be exactly that but something like it would be great.

Having this option in the form of an Offering, and it ends when a generator is done or something, would be a great idea.
