Game Mode vs Modifier
An observation: everyone in the community seems to be referring to Lights Out and other ideas as 'Game Mode' but BHVR seems really intent and avoiding that phrase and instead using 'Modifier'.
To me I think it signals what they are going for. They aren't looking for new game styles, but modifying the existing game. That might not sound like much of a difference, but I think it indicates that they are looking at these as short term things and that issues like balance are not going to get a lot of attention (I think Peanits basically said the former in another post, while the latter is a guess on my part).
I think it also indicates that things like having a killer disabled for a modifier won't be necessarily a one off. If modifiers are only going to be short term events, it makes sense that if a killer doesn't fit to just exclude them instead of spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to make it work.
This isn't a "Boo, BHVR is awful" or "BHVR is brilliant!" type post, just an observation. Any other possibilities on why they seem so intent on saying 'Modifier'?

Game mode could be something permanent. While modifier is just something temporary.
Or something like that.

Game mode implies to add hype and calling it modifier is trying to lessen the expectations of the playerbase ...
Maybe also the fact that they call that a modifier is aimed at testing potential gamemodes so they aren't called such YET ...
