Another teaser for Chapter 31

Another teaser was released I won't post the whole thing here cuz it'd be kind long but basically more of the same, it's in the form of text messages between a couple. Guy is at work and gonna be on his way home soon, the girl is at home cleaning up. Something is picked up on the security camera and it's implied the killer is relatively tall as the camera is at eye level and it seemed to be taller than that. Then the dog next door starts barking and then stops but keeps whimpering but it's noted it sounds "wrong".

Something is seen on the camera again and the girl checks on the dog outside and the guy says to stay inside and the girl says it's okay the dog stopped making noise, the guy keeps texting but the girl no longer replies. It's a bit open-ended as to what happened but it seems to be the last few texts arn't actually from the girl and the killer whatever it is got her when she checked one the dog.

So nothing crazy it's mostly more of the same of what we've been getting but that being said it kinda solidifies what we seem to be getting. It seems to be something along the lines of "The Thing" and it can mimic noises and appear and take the form of whatever it kills but the base form is quite large. In the context of the game we're probably getting a mimic killer finally or the very least something that can sound like an injured survivor from afar.

Now this on it's own is a bit weak so I'm sure there's another part of the power we're missing cuz that on it's own is not enough and something is probably there for chases that we don't know yet. It's fast whatever it is but every killer is fast so that doesn't tell us anything really. I suppose we'll get an idea of the rest in the next few days.

    I've been loving the teasers for this chapter so far because they have a creepypasta vibe. There are countless horror stories and videos on the internet about skinwalkers, dopplegangers, and other misterious shapechanging creatures that appear at night and leave strange signs of their presence or make eerie unnatural noises, and the first teaser looked a lot like one of those stories.

    The second teaser was also quite similar to a famous creepypasta named "Annie96 is typing...", which is fully made of text messages and spawned (or at least popularized) a whole new genre of text message horror stories. So, now that DBD explored multiple forms of horror from literature and cinema (slasher, cosmic horror, j-horror, sci-fi horror...), they're also tapping into styles of horror that are more recent in comparison and quite popular on the internet right now. One of the most awesome things about DbD is how it is frequently expanding and reaching more and more subgenres of horror, so that can be a great addition.


    Oh, and also, that probably means we may FINALLY get a killer who can disguise itself as a survivor!
