How is Dredge holding up?

I feel like for the most part he’s in a really good place, the only feedback I would provide on this killer is that his locker spawns and RNG for a lot of maps are really bad.

I think he needs a few quality of life changes, but not necessarily buffs per se.

What do you guys think? I’m curious to know people’s thoughts on the dredge.

I'm a huge fan of Dredge because I really love his design, his story is also cool, the idea of his power is really cool, and he has awsome skins. However, he feels sometimes really awful to play for many reasons: First, some maps have really, really bad locker placements which feels awful because you have a map mobility that you cannot use due to map rng. In addition, this makes generator defending sometimes impossible - you have no lockers nearby generators. Second, some of his addons feel so necessary: Haddie's Calendar should be basekit because the difference between with and without it so huge. Considering the fact that survivors can lock lockers twice. The Daytime teleport also feels so slow and awful, especially if you teleport to the other side of the map. It also makes Dredge unable to catch up to survivors in a chase because they have enough time to react to it. As a result, the teleport boost from Boat Key should be half or completly basekit. Using his remnant also feels sometimes so bad since he moves so slow. Another issue is that some maps such as Garden Of Joy or Badham have connected loops and tiles which makes Dredge power completly useless. However, this is more of a map issue because other killers - mostly M1-Killers - also struggle with this "map design". In addition, the 12 seconds power cooldown also feels sometimes so bad. Compared to other killers, it feels not right. My guess is that this big cooldown should avoid a remnant spam to get quicker nightfall but then nerf the points for this and make the cooldown shorter. Third, he is so loud! You can hear him from 20meters away and track him which makes mindgames on many loops or tiles impossible which sucks. In addition, what's the point of the stealth part of him when you can hear him 20meters away from you? But then there are the other matches where he feels so powerful because you have a good map like midwich, survivors that struggle during Nightfall (e.g. Accessibility, Consolplayer, no WoO) , and the right addons.

Overall, I kind of disagree with you and say Dredge is not in a good place - in my opinion - because he is too map dependent, some of his addons should be basekit to make his basekit power good and not addon dependent, and he needs a better locker placement. A first and simple step to solve the locker placement could be to add always a locker next to a generator like Xenomorph has nearly always a Controlstration next to a generators or Sadako a TV. This would give him the ability to better use his map mobility. Thus an overall better locker placement for some maps is still needed due to the fact that Huntress and Trickster also need good locker placements and survivors like to run perks that need a locker (Flashbang, Inner Healing).

Thank you so much for taking the time for writing this detailed post.

I would agree with you, and I believe you have changed my mind about the position that dredges in. I believe that is what the forms are all about. Getting a better understanding of how we can improve based off that.

I will say this, despite the amazing story, his power and cosmetics I struggle terribly myself when I play this killer, and it sucks because I really love this killer. I want to love this killer even more but I feel like he has so much holding him back. I think he needs some adjustments for sure. I’m no dredge expert, so I don’t know exactly what those are going to be but I had a basic understanding for sure and a much better understanding after reading your post.

I would love to play dredge more, but I usually just get clapped when I play him. I struggle.

My biggest problem with dredge is; that I often end up with every locker being locked. Then every time I tp in chase, I‘m stuck in a locker, which gives the survivor too much distance.

-> solution: make that the locked lockers reset at the beginning of nightfall

The second big annoyance is; that you always teleport into the locked lockers, which should be changed.

->Make that you can decide in which one you wana teleport.

With the rest I‘m mostly fine. I wouldn’t say NO to a better locker placement, faster tp or other improvements.
