If I had it my way to rework current hillbilly quickly:

. No overdrive (remove it)

. Doom engraving bass chainsaw sprint speed (so 20% of 9.2 m/s)

. Revert back to all post 7.5.0 addons except keep iri engraving and change it to Death engraving stats with more increased charge time ( so 20% charge time and 15% sprint speed) Double engravings had 24% charge time fyi. And just make doom and death engravings cooldown addons ( so Thompson’s mix and greased throttle)

. Tune down Billy’s initial turn rate from 1sec to 0.87 sec

These are clean, raw simple QOL changes that bring back the pre spirit and nostalgia feeling of Billy.

Do you guys like current billy? Seems like the devs still really don’t know what to do with him, he’s missing something of balance. I miss old Billy cause he was harder to play but was strong when you put in the time to learn the mechanical aspects about him, a bit gatekeepy?

nah, overdrive's fun to use. maybe it could be toned down a bit but i think removing it completely is a bit excessive. i do miss having both deaths and dooms though. i never really want to use iri engravings anymore because iris are so expensive. but i'd use dooms and deaths all the time. it's a very awkward place for engravings users.

What Billy needs is an add-on that increases his movement speed during the chainsaw sprint by 5% but removes Overdrive. That way the old feeling of double engravings can be brought back.

That said, I like Overdrive, and I also think the new initial turn rate is an insane buff for old Billy players that will increase his skill ceiling big time. He's definitely easier to play now (skill floor has been raised) because he's less painful to play, but there's a lot more to master in his kit now.

I would make that his speed limiter brown addon

it has no purpose anymore as it doesn’t give bloodpoints like it used to…it’s just there to debuff your chainsaw and that’s it

    No overdrive (remove it)

Overdrive is fun idk why you would remove it. It perfectly distinguishes the new version of hillbilly from overheat billy. And this billy from original billy.

Doom engraving bass chainsaw sprint speed (so 20% of 9.2 m/s)

    Doesn't seem necessary to me.

Revert back to all post 7.5.0 addons

Most old add-ons were linked to overheat. This wouldn't work. Plus his new add-on set except the ones related to overdrive decay is pretty solid. Old add-on set was quite bad.

Tune down Billy’s initial turn rate from 1sec to 0.87 sec

Again unnecessary, why tone it down? Why make it an uneven number?

These are clean, raw simple QOL changes that bring back the pre spirit and nostalgia feeling of Billy.

These are not quality of life changes. They are severe nerfs to the current hillbilly. Nostalgia feeling of billy? I don't understand what you mean at all.

he’s missing something of balance. I miss old Billy cause he was harder to play but was strong when you put in the time to learn the mechanical aspects about him, a bit gatekeepy?

So you like that he was a gatekeepy killer that was hard to play. He wasn't hard to play he was ridiculously unintuitive, that's just frustrating game design. Wanting a killer to be gatekeepy is not in the games best interests.

They should make every killer as accessible but unique as possible, for killer variety. That makes the game more enjoyable for both sides.

Hillbilly was a unique mechanically demanding killer that when once learned with time invested was rewarding just like huntress, Blight, wesker, Nurse only Billy’s ceiling was higher. My suggestions are an in between balance pre 7.5.0 and current.

If you’re like myself who has been playing nothing but billy since 2018 having an initial turn rate of 1 sec with overdrive paired with addons such as T mix, Iri engraving, lopro etc is very overtuned especially in pubs.

It has been 3 days. 3. Days. Not weeks. So of course, survivors will struggle with this new turn time. Many even struggled with old Billy (pre 7.5.0). Because they simply have never put any thought in how to actually play around his power.

The best way to counter a Hillbilly is not simple M1 killer looping. It's looking out for how they actually play. There is a mind game component to curves that has almost been lost over the last years. Does he curve close to the loop? Predict it and run a little wider. You still have more than enough time to get to the pallet. If you have line of sight blockers at your disposal, it's easy to loop him around nothing when he tries to go for curves. There are a million things that you can and should use against him.

If he does end up overperforming in 2 months from now, then we can consider nerfing him again. But for now it would be nice to just let him be for a bit and see how players adjust.
