How do you usualy use Shards?
Saving them? Only for new characters? Just for skins? For perks? For BP? etc.

I don't think I've ever used Shards for skins. Freddy doesn't have cosmetics, and I'm not really a fan of what Claudette has for her in the store.
I usually spend them on perks, when the shrine happens to have something I need. And sometimes I use them to buy characters, but it doesn't happen that often. My most recent purchase was the Singularity, who I have yet to play.

In the past I just purchased cosmetics as I was all for supporting the developer and paying cash for DLCs. However the last few years I feel the devs have made some awful changes and made the game a pretty horrible experience for me personally. I hope I just stop playing all together but if I did spend shards it would be for original chapters and licensed perks.

Always for skins. I buy all the chapters and then get all perks tier 3 with bloodpoints.

over the years I’ve bought some characters with shards but I mostly just buy individual cosmetic pieces
I finally completed an ace cosmetic after 3 years of buying the first one

On killer perks in the Shrine. There's only a couple killers I enjoy playing so have no desire to buy more, I just get the perks I want through the Shrine. Other than that I just save them.

Usually for BP from shrine purchases. If a cosmetic comes out for Dweet that's available with shards then I'll use them.

I hoard mine. In the world of DBD I'm officially middle class.

Usually I buy Cosmetics for Shards. Except for Nea, she is my main so I buy every Cosmetic of her for ACs once it releases. But for any other Character, I usually wait until they are available for Shards.
I buy characters for actual money, except for Renato, Thalita and Skull Merchant back then, because I did not really want to pay the inflated price to get two Skins and two Sets of bad Perks instead of one each time, just because BHVR decided to release two Survivors with it.
But I think I will not spend any money anymore on DBD except for licensed Content. I dont like the direction they go with some changes and I feel they have given up on Survivor (with months without any meaningful content), except if it is for a Cashgrab-Perk which gets nuked into the ground shortly after.

I use them for skins and just save up enough of them to buy the next non licensed killer. After that I usually wait until I have enough for the survivor as well and then buy them too.

Exclusively for cosmetics

Exclusively cosmetics.
I buy new DLC from steam directly, and spending shards on perks seems like a waste at that point.
I also don’t need the BP anyway, so

Do not buy perks in the shrine with shards. ever. unless its a perk you extremely need and is from a lisenced character, its best to buy the character with shards instead.
i like to hoard mine and use them mainly for non-lisenced characters but if i have alot i dont mind splooging a bit for cosmetics here and there (mfw naughtybear trapper was buyable with shards)

i always keep at least 18.000 Shards for upcoming original character, the rest is used to buy skin.

New characters and shrine of secrets. I usually just rock rift/event skins.

I just hoard them unless they come out with something I must have on Claudette or if there is a killer I really want. But after playing SM Myers, I don’t think any other killer will give me the same fun as he does.

Up until now, I've used shards primarily for licensed shrine perks and buying characters from my backlog. I'd hound the shrine for Cannibal and Cenobite perks, since I'm not into them, and I'd basically hoard shards all year until the Anniversary and go on a shopping spree. I consistently don't play during the Christmas event, I've found.
Now, though, I'm saving them for cosmetics. I like buying the new chapters and supporting BHVR because, even though I disagree with some of their specific balance decisions, I still think they're doing a good job. Also, they sound like they're actively trying to create a nice work environment with moves like eliminating crunch, which seems unfortunately rare in the game industry these days. So, yeah, I generally buy new chapters and licensed cosmetics. Shards these days are for original cosmetics, which gives me an in-game goal to work towards.

because i play the game so much, i generally use my shards wherever i feel like it! i've recently been getting all the 900-shard cosmetic pieces for the original survivors and killers since i find the recolors to make interesting combinations. in a way, they feel very grounded and remind me of why i play the game! :)

Last year I used shards almost exclusively for new characters, occasionally buying some cheap cosmetics. But now that I have all characters, I've been stocking up for more expensive cosmetics. Though with the new chapter on the way I'm instead building my shards up to buy the characters for it. I have 16,000 right now so I'm not too far away.

In-game characters for perks so I don't have to wait out the shrine, and only use the shrine for licensed chapter perks I don't own.

I tend to hang on to them for the perks that i didn't buy from purchasing a character i don't like or a character that is too demanding power wise for console. Last 2 year's or so they've had like a 2 week shrine event where it refreshes everyday, so i have majority of perks from that. Though if a real useless perk pops up in the shrine i still wont buy it, because it will clog up the bloodweb of a future character.
Don't think i've ever bought a skin with shards, and only a couple of characters. Wish they'd add a new feature to purchase certain addons with shards or even the 100% BP offerings.
