Why is the matchmaking so bad

I'm trying to introduce 3 friends into dbd, and literally every match we get into we're getting sweaty ass killers running meta builds, when my friends can't even loop properly and don't even have anyone prestiged yet. It's so unfair and it is driving them away from the game cause they can't even learn bc all the gameplay is for them is getting sacrificed over and over we have escaped like twice ever. The killers we play against see that they're bad and just tunnel them out of the match. What is this matchmaking?? We aren't even escaping so how are we getting such good killers it's stupid

Matchmaking can be very weird when even one player has a MMR that's significantly higher than that of the others. The game takes your average MMR and uses this to find a killer.

The killers you against might not even be super good but they probably have a few more hours than you guys. They cannot know how good the team will be overall, so they tunnel to win. It's not nice but eventually your MMR as a group should adjust and put you with killers that are less experienced. So keep playing, don't expect too much right off the bat and your matches will become better.
