Correct me if I'm wrong but if you AFK as Wraith in Cloak and the survivors cannot get you out of cloak, then I think it is possible to de-pip survivors this way as they cannot get any boldness points and altruism points excluding the "reunited" bonus. If they find a flashlight they can burn you out of cloak. If he's wanting true AFK then Freddy is the one to use.
Well that and also if you're using Dark Sense it instantly elts you know if you're looking in the killers direction. If you run in his area I think you still get boldness points however, same goes for pallets/window vaulting at full run.

The only reason people are going AFK is to grind shards, duh.You do realize you don't get shards just from playing the matches anymore?
You get XP, which leads to shards, AFAIK.

If you have a better source stating otherwise, please do post it up.

I just tested....You do....

You can earn small amounts of exp via good performance (emblem bonuses), but the bulk of it just comes from game time, AFAIK.
You're still gaining shards through game time (including AFK), unless there's some way to end a match with 0 exp.

I have seen no offical policy for AFK leading to bans, but I could see if you had got multiple reports against you for AFKing, it could lead to a ban. AFK happens for a variety of reasons. Real life happens, cannot be controlled. You can rank down without AFKing, its not that hard. Why ruin the enjoyment for the survivors because you want to derank.

This line of thinking is why I think a definite answer is important.

I've changed the title from "MOD HELP" to "DEV HELP" in hopes of getting a definite answer.0

I just tested....You do....HAHAHAHAHAH I love the screenies.
You notice the only guy to say anything in the after game chat was the Guy with totally decked out perks and a flashlight with addons (in a rank 20 Killer game). He burned party streamers fully expecting to bully the Killer and make a Killing in BP's.
But it looks like he spent the entire match looking for the Killer and not doing anything else because he only got 8k and depipped.
Serves him right be being "THAT GUY"
I love this experiment!!!!!

Depends on what they are doing when AFKing.
As you said, they went AFK right from the spawn... if they were botting in any ways, then yes, we do not tolerate that. The hard part is, was it intentional? If you have seen the same person do it on multiple matches, I would report it.
If you have seen them do it once, then, maybe they had no choice but to AFK to take care of an important matter.
botting would mean that the killer runs around like an AI and does nothing, that is not afk though
And btw, deranking via afk isnt bannable, in fact it is the only way to derank on a legit way since they got rid of slugging = depip (at least that is what a mod has told me in the steam forum)
If you capture someone in a corner and bodyblock him, then go afk, then this is bannable indeed0 -

My guess is looking to derank. Use Freddy if you are looking to do this. Other wise they'll just find your wraith and mess with him. But I'd guess reportable because you are not playing the game as intended. But if you move around and refuse to interact, then who's to say you are not just bad at Freddy.
Game not playing as intended?
I dont think that clicking at the killer to cause epilepsy was intended, so we gonna report that too?0 -

I dont think that clicking at the killer to cause epilepsy was intended, so we gonna report that too?I didn't think that being AFK was a rock solid reportable offense, so I tried to think if they could fit afking into their know reasons for reporting. The umbrella clause of "Not playing the game as intended" seems to fit, so I mentioned it.

I just took a screenshot when they were in the lobby, watched YouTube, and came back after game.
I didn't really notice their items .0 -
I'd really appreciate a Dev answer, as I've received conflicting interpretations from several Mods .0

And it will probably be patched out. Until then I'd have to side on the reportable side now. Since you are clearly getting something for nothing.

You could do the same for shards pre-2.0....
I can see your point, though.
I'm hoping this can get clarified sometime soon.
This is day 4 O_O0 -
Am I asking for this clarification in the wrong place?
I'm just trying to make sure I'm not breaking any rules, but no one seems capable of informing me as to whether this is bannable or not.

You only gain exp if the survivors are tbagging in front of you and give you chase points, but thats on their side

Let me tell you this. In the last months I have been regularly deranking by staying afk in the basement (without holding a survivor hostage) and nothing happened to me.
Before I started that I asked in the steam forums and a mod told me that afk without a hostage situations would not be bannble (wasnt a dev though)Considering the time gens need to complete, this should not be a problem for survivors either. Just take your free points and finish the game quickly

Well, I'm just going to assume it's not at this point.
I'm sure if it was, someone would have stepped up and clarified it....it's not like I didn't try to seek guidance on the issue.0
