Xbox series X-Random lights appearing in lobby and game causing game to crash

It’s not my issue but my boyfriends, this issue started last night no matter if he’s playing as a killer or as survivor. The lights started as little squares with green and purple lights that get brighter across his screen, and it makes his game crash to dashboard while loading in and while in game
he’s closed and reopened the game, uninstalled and reinstalled it, messed with the resolution, cleared his cache and (accidentally) factory reset his console and it’s still happening.
its progressed to the point where half of his screen blinks white but he can still see the HUD where survivors are either hooked or downed
