Performance problems on a notebook

Hey guys,

I have a problem running DBD. First of all a bit of backstory. I have a PC at home and a laptop for university stuff. On the PC DBD runs fine. On my laptop however, the story is different. 2 years ago I had a HP notebook with an onboard intel GPU, which handled DBD okay at 55-60 FPS (lowest settings ofc). 1.5 years ago, I bought a new notebook with an Nvidia 1650 where DBD was running okay as well. In November 2023 I changed my notebook again and thought I could at least upgrade the GPU a bit and went for an Acer with the following specs:

CPU: i7-1260P (12th generation)

16 GB RAM

Nvidia Geforce 3050 ti, 4GB

SSD (1TB)

W11 professional

When I installed DBD I was wondering why the performance was so bad. I could not run the game on high or medium settings on the display resolution. This is where I found the first problem: the resolution of my display is 2240x1400 (14 inch). The GPU is too weak to go for that resolution on high details. No problem I though, I will just go to low or medium settings. Still, very bad FPS, lags everywhere. My second idea was to reduce the ingame resolution. I went down to 1280x800. Still the only way to play DBD was to go for low graphic details and further reduce the resolution to 65% of the value I selected ingame. I additionally changed the resolution on my notebook settings before I start the game to match the ingame selection. Since some time now (I think it was patch 7.5) my game runs even worse. On the settings I described, I used to get 60 FPS but now it randomly drops down to 30-40 for an extended period, sometimes below and then back to 50-60.

I know my laptop is not designed for hardcore gaming but how was I able to play the game on an onboard GPU more or less fine and now with an external GPU which is definitely more powerful than the old one I can’t? The game is indeed running on the Nvidia card, not on the integrated intel one. I used Nvdias frameview to get some more details and found out that the card is never 100% busy and usually goes to 40-45% workload.

Latest driver for the GPU is always installed, for the other stuff too. I uninstalled DBD, reinstalled it, checked the gamefiles. I don’t know if I can do anything to “fix” that but I think, looking at the hardspecs, I should be able to play DBD somehow.

Maybe someone has an idea :)
