Deipping has been finally removed!
I know this update is stirring up the water quite a bit, but I really feel like this tiny little change was a huge QOL change for all of us that like our bloodpoints. I will no longer have to sweat just to get those pips which will result in a more fun experience.
Rare big W for BHVR.

It was stupid and made people who don't play a lot to never reach the Iridiscent Grades (my case).
Losing pips had sense when there was a rank system tied to the matchmaking, after that it just made reaching Iri 1 a slog and also having a bad match will feel way less painful after the change.

I honestly didn't think it would happen, so it was such a pleasant surprise when I read the update

YES! Thank you BHVR!
I am so, so glad they've finally decided to remove this frustration. Now I might actually be able to hit Iri 1 Survivor for the first time. Should hopefully mean that players no longer feel like they need to sweat in every game to rush back to iri 1 or to avoid de-pipping, too.

I remember quiting my attempt at Iri 1 survivor after being stuck at iri 4 during a week because of how easy it was to depip. I even made a topic on that forum about it back then.
Big win indeed, I'm going to try that Iri 1 again !

Honestly, if anyone somehow found a way to see this as a bad change, they're just doing it to stir up some reactions.
A welcome change!

About ######### time.

It never should've taken them so long. I'm glad it's finally happening, but it should've happened back when Ranks became Grades.

good news
Thank you to everyone who has been calling for the abolition of depip.
2 -
yeah that was a great change

About time, fantastic change.

No more punishment for dodging Trickster and Skull Merchant :D
1 -
Honestly, might be their best move long term.
I know I've been mad about depiping from things I had no control over as survivor. This is good.
3 -
Not sure if that will fix skull merchant dodging tbh. She is just not a fun killer period depip or not am sure people still will refuse to play if its her.
0 -
Oh I will be dodging both of them still, thats the entire point!

I’ve definitely called for this a long time. So happy to see this change.

My sentiments exactly. And no it won't stop me from dodging Skull Merchant. I loath that Killer.

For real! I made a monthly reminder to BHVR to please remove de-pipping for various reasons, and they FINALLY did it! This is soooo cool! I can finally play anyway I like and give cute survivors hatch or whatever, without hurting my progress or fearing to have a couple of sweaty matches afterwards that cost my all my pips (happend way, way, WAY too often).

Just for your information, I lost 5 pips over the course of an evening, when I was 1 pip away from pipping up, just because how asinine this system can sometimes be. One de-pip was because I dared to play the April Fools game mode. What a joke, literally. This update can't come early enough.

Found one… he basically argues that removing depipping removes a sense of accomplishment & caters to the emotions of " emotionally immature" gamers or something like that.
It's a strange take imo considering all the ways you have no control over a depip, especially as survivor.

Since pips only represent recent playtime and provide a bp bonus it doesn't really make sense to have depiping be a thing, its not babying if it doesn't actually mean anything just like how they removed deranking removing depiping is no harm no foul since it isn't part of matchmaking or any type of prestige is just free bloodpoints

Yeah, I saw this too! Have to say I think this is him really over-thinking such a basic concept. It's a really poor take, which is unusual for Coconut, since he is often known to be methodical, if a little nutty. Too many hatchets to the head for this guy, I'm afraid.

I can understand this perspective from someone whose life revolves around the game. If it's your job/source of income, then you tend to view things a bit different to those who just see this game as, well, a game lol a source of fun and a bit of a time waster when bored. It's not fun for the game to be like 'hey you did pretty bad' when most of the time it's outside of your control. Likewise, I'm sure alot of people don't view pips as "accomplishments." To me, pips are just ticking all the boxes.

I get why they did it, grade or what was formerly rank means nothing anymore other than BP at what was rank reset in the past.
I kinda miss those days of rank reset but I think they are gone forever and this change makes sense I guess
1 -
this a great change and should of happen some time ago.
2 -
I won't waste my time watching a video with such takes, honestly.
The sense of acomplishment still exist, because the 0 pips will still exist, so when you earn one or two you still have the feeling.
"immature gamers"? The most immature is the one who think that "punishing" you for things out of your control is good (solo Q, being tunneled/camped, a bad map for the killer you are playing, a bad RNG for you in any given map, facing a full meta premade, etc).
4 -
The actual Rank Reset from back in the day was peak. It is the matchmaking system we should have, imho.
2 -
I didn't like that matchmaking because I had to de-rank several times every moth because as soon as you reach purple ranks you start to get full premades and sweaty players.
0 -
I think Purple Ranks were fine. So were Reds, to be honest.
You could get sweaty players from time to time, but it wasn't the norm.

It is great news they finally did this. I agree the only reason someone would say otherwise is just looking to be noticed. Case in point the content creator made that video knowing it was a controversial take. It gets views. If they wanted a serious game they would play one with a serious ranked mode. Even in DBD they could be reaching out to teams if they mean business.
1 -
Complaining about other players having a more relaxing game experience is some extreme elitism.
