Decisive Strike Buff Is Better Than People Give It Credit For
Ive seen a lot of people say "Decisive Strike is not going to do much after the buff to 5 seconds" and how everything is doom and gloom.
DECISIVE STRIKE'S DESIGN…
Decisive Strike was never meant to make tunneling outright impossible, in fact literally all anti-tunnel perks are like that… in fact, all perks that are meant to counter a playstyle or strategy are quite literally meant to have limited usage to not outright prevent players from playing in a given way.
OTHER PERK DESIGN…
Unbreakable, for example, is meant to counter slugging, but it does not outright remove it as an option since it has a limit to how much it can be used. Killers can still slug, but Unbreakable, if used right, can undo all of the pressure the Killer has built and bring them back to square zero.
But Unbreakable has counters, since not slugging, or hooking the Survivor with Unbreakable makes it useless. It has counterplay, and it acts as counterplay.
For Decisive Strike, it's core design is not to outright prevent tunneling, it's job is to make tunneling harder, to punish the Killer with a long stun and letting the Survivor have an effective restart to a chase; it's a sudo fourth hook state if used correctly.
But Decisive Strike has counters as well, you can slug the Survivor with Decisive Strike to wait it out, or just outright avoid tunneling to give the perk zero value.
According to DBD's core design, at least earlier perk design if you want to be more nuanced, Decisive Strike is designed well. It's not an "end all, be all" perk, nor was is ever meant to be one.
DECISIVE STRIKE HAS ONE ACTUAL ISSUE…
This was my main gripe with old Decisive Strike, and it will still persist now…
Meta perks for either side should not be locked behind a paywall, since it leads players to feel more inclined to spend money on the game to gain a clear advantage over those who dont (P2W).
For Survivors specifically, this is a major issue since all Survivors fundamentally work the same and their perks define them more than anything; so perks hold more importance, thus P2W becomes more of an issue when it comes to what perks licensed characters come with.

Poignant observation. I would hope the issues with it being P2W will resolved as part of the rework of the shrine.
Regarding DS, personally I'd have gone with 4s myself, then done a wider rework resetting tokens on stuns for the special case killers like Nurse, Blight (though rework so Blight be coming off that list), have characters like Spirit, Wesker and Pyramid Head pause their cooldown recovery while stunned, all in aid of mirroring bslance factors on characters like Ghost Face and Legion who can be completely stunned out of their power.
4s seconds is plenty to work with if you plan where you go down off a tunnel, you can make 10m distance in that 2.7s seconds difference. So with the targeted stun nerfs, it reaches what I feel is a happy medium.

What if everyones getting all mad and the new animation takes 2 seconds making it actually 3 seconds running time. Since right now its 3 seconds and 1.5 sec running time with the current animation. They already stated its a stabbing animation.

Boss, I am tired of all these DS floods of topics...

It's still going to deactivate upon a conspicuous action and end game I presume?

They've not stated otherwise, it literally just is going from 3s to 5s.

As I suspected. Thank you.

This is what I suspect will happen.

Being as optimistic as possible, the length of the survivor stun/animation has been a big complaint for a while. When they announced a DS change on the road map, my only hope was that it involved animation work to address and shorten the survivor stun to, at most, 1 second.
Because waiting at all for just a 3s → 5s number change could've been implemented at literally any point.

make it 3 second stunning time.

Are survivor's crying about the change too? All I've seen were killers complaining about 2 extra seconds.
The P2W aspect is 1, not a win and 2, not realy pay. Sure you have to pay or wait, but DS is one of those perks that RNG love to put on the shrine.

i would much rather it removed the power charges for killers like nurse , blight, spirit etc … then having it hurt mostly low tier killers while remining fairlly innefective aginst top killers. They allready have this mecanic when legion or plague get stunned their loose their power bar . This would make catching up right with fast powers not possible while not making it super harsh on a trapper or freddy who allready have it toufh.

2 seconds? who said that?

my only real problem with DS are m1 killers, the weak ones like ghost face or something like that, but remember, we´ll test everything in the PTB, bhvr will collect feedback etc etc etc

I would almost think its reverse psychology attempt. Trying to convince people its not worth running because they don't want to be hit with a five second stun.

No one said 2 sec. Dance the community manager/dev here said its a new animation completely so what I'm saying is everyone's freaking out and has no idea what its even going to be yet.
