How do we feel about the current perk meta?

As the title says, with DS getting changed i feel like its an appropriate question to ask since new builds are about to be getting run. For me i feel like most killers are running a decent variety of stuff, at least in my games i do but i also dont face the same killers over and over again usually.

As for survivor i see lots of different builds too but usually a core of like 4 or 5 perks now more so then any others, Background player, Champ of light, OTR, Bond, and Distortion. Im also seeing builds not even running an exhaustion perk anymore a lot of the time.

What about your experience? I think with DS getting buffed we're gonna see way more OTR, DH and overall exhaustion perks too.

It's pretty much the same for me, except you can count pop and pain res as stable as well as windows lithe/sprintburst.

    I personally run

As killer: 1-2 infoperks (bbq and or lethal most of the time), 1-2 chase-perks (brutal and or bamboozle), 1 utility (mostly on huntress and trickster: iron maiden) and 1 regression perk (pop most of the time).

As survivor: I always run windows, lithe, botany and the new selfcare-like perk from sable (forgot the name xD)

Killers do not run any variety in my games. My matches are almost always 3-4 slowdowns on the killer. Pop and Pain Res are almost guaranteed on the killers I go against. You can throw deadlock, corrupt intervention, grim embrace, lethal, surge and dms into the mix too. If they bring an info perk it's almost always UW or Nowhere to Hide. Very occasionally I will get someone running an end game build. It's just the same 10 or so perks in almost every match.

Survivor perk variety is the best it's ever been.

Killer perk variety cured my insomnia.

It is gen blocking vs what survivors have left.

    Definitely not a good meta.

Slowdown is still the meta on killers, and honestly, I feel like you would have to nerf most slowdown perks substantially to not have it be the only meta anymore. But at that point gens would probably go too fast again.

Honestly, I am just happy that Pop is one of the meta slowdown perks, since it's the healthiest one design wise if you ask me. I wouldn't mind small nerfs to perks like Pain Res though.

    • in my experience ALL killers have the same Pop + scourge hook perk combo. if the killer is high mobility (or they have something to throw) they have the aura vision perks (classic lethal + bbq or Nowhere to Hide). in short, apart from some exceptions (such as thanatophobia on Legion or Plague), even killers use a total of 15-20 perks

    It feels awful.

As killer I try a variety of different builds right now.

When playing survivor, I use flash bang, we'll make it, second wind and wicked.

    Survivor experience:

Killer is running corrupt, pain res and pop. Almost no exception.

My teammates all run adren, Windows, sprint burst, lithe or otr.

    Killer experience:

Perk variety of survivors is similar to what I experience as survivor with my teammates.

I had a pyramid head with 4 Slowdowns losing on Haddonfield. They wherent too happy, but I tried to reason with them that his perk where not helping him much.

When they calmed down, I explained how lethal instead of corrupt and I'm Al ears instead of no where to hide would do wonders for his learning curve.

We then had a nice discussion about stealth and skill check builds and called it a day.

    Summary:

Perk variety seems really bad right now. Many people use the perks they use because it's their comport zone, published by popular content creators. We should all use different kind of builds. Slowdown as killer is mostly required in some form. Just not 3 or 4 of them.

I feel like the survivor meta is as far away as it was last year, while the killer meta is still pretty much the same. Survivors are solely focused on gens more than heals and will let teammates go to 2nd hook on 1st just to get a gen done. While Killers meta is still gen regression like the call of brine/overcharge days. Personaly pretty stale on both sides right now I think.
