Your top ten favorite horror movies.
A golden age of horror that we live in. These are ten that I love but I don't think I could ever definitively state the absolute best. Most of the great films I have seen have been discovered through word of mouth, so I'd love to see what you think are yours.
- Frailty
- When Evil Lurks
- Terrified
- Martyrs
- The Eyes of my Mother
- Angel Heart
- Les Chambres Rougues-(French Canadian)
- Where the Devil Roams
- The Babadook
- The Innocents
Like I said, I could easily drop a hundred more but there is a brief synopsis. What have you?

When I say "martyrs", I mean this one. The French film. Also, always choose unrated.

Hi there.
- Chucky
- The Others
- Alien
- Annabelle
- The Birds
Although I'm not a big fan of horror movies, my wife likes them. I'm more into adult movies, if you know what I mean(porn). But she doesn't want to watch this kind of movie with me yet.

Good titles, folks. Thanx.
13 cameras. That, too. Dude puts in a performance of a lifetime. Mondo Creepo de Maximo. He makes the an ordinary film extraordinary.
I have assembled a list of over a hundred on x (Twitter) on the name ParasiticSeth. A group linked on my profile called "crazy love for horror films". I offer horror/dark films synopsis's with no spoilers. An open group, anyone can post and discuss.

The original "scream" is a classic. "Event horizon" was vastly underappreciated.

Yes, thank you everyone. I have a ton more to share as I generally watch two or three a week at minimum.
Orphan was great as well. I enjoyed the prequel a good deal as well but had to not think too hard at a couple moments. That girl in the lead role is fantastic. Oddly, that is based on a true story but the source material was probably not as sensational.
Another that came to mind is the French film "calvaire". Calvaire is french for "the ordeal". Pretty strong material in that one. I really enjoyed it.

Anyone planning on watching "martyrs" is encouraged to not read anything about it or watch trailers. To me, the film is the absolute pinnacle of horror. It is a hard watch and I almost turned it off at one point as It became too much. I am glad I didn't because it all became so clear at the end. I still get goosebumps even now as I type this. Total mindf*** of a film.

Have too many favorites so a top 10 is hard to do. Since you mentioned finding movies from word of mouth I'm going to avoid naming classics (like Hitchcock, Hammer films, Universal Horror, etc), well known franchises (Halloween, F13, Jaws, etc) or ones others have already mentioned. For me a favorite horror movie is one I enjoy so much I can rewatch it. Some of these are more horror comedy than just straight up horror, but who doesn't enjoy some laughs with kills? 😂
- Fido
- Cutting Class
- Club Dread
- Popcorn
- Hush
- Cabin Fever
- Troll Hunter
- The Exorcism of Emily Rose
- Strangeland
- Killer Klowns from Outerspace

Hush and the exorcism of Emily Rose are two of my favorite films. I have always wanted to see fido but haven't yet. I actually spoke to the writer/director of exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister and black phone. He like two of my comments on X. I was bug eyed and loony for hours.
He had made a thread about how "when evil lurks" was the best horror film he had ever seen. A strong statement. Especially, since like you said, there is so many great films. I have to say though. I just rewatched the when evil lurks dude's first film and nothing compares. We have all heard this before but terrified and when evil lurks are undoubtedly the two scariest films I have ever seen. Dude is from Argentina and the films are subtitled in Spanish. Dude....is a maniac.

Another thing about Martyrs. I am not someone that likes extreme horror or torture porn whatsoever. Martyrs is extreme but the story is enriched because of it.

I'll add the box when they let me.
